2 Kings 17:18-23

18Therefore the Lord was very angry with Israel and removed them out of his sight. None was left but athe tribe of Judah only.

19 bJudah also did not keep the commandments of the Lord their God, but walked in the customs that Israel had introduced. 20And the Lord rejected all the descendants of Israel and afflicted them cand gave them into the hand of plunderers, until he had cast them out of his sight.

21 dWhen he had torn Israel from the house of David, ethey made Jeroboam the son of Nebat king. And Jeroboam drove Israel from following the Lord fand made them commit great sin. 22The people of Israel walked in all the sins that Jeroboam did. They did not depart from them, 23until the Lord removed Israel out of his sight, gas he had spoken by all his servants the prophets. hSo Israel was exiled from their own land to Assyria until this day.

Isaiah 1:4-6

4 Ah, sinful nation,
a people laden with iniquity,
ioffspring of evildoers,
children who deal corruptly!
They have forsaken the Lord,
they have jdespised kthe Holy One of Israel,
they are utterly lestranged.
5 Why will you still be mstruck down?
Why will you ncontinue to rebel?
The whole head is sick,
and the whole heart faint.
6 oFrom the sole of the foot even to the head,
there is no soundness in it,
but bruises and sores
and raw wounds;
they are pnot pressed out or bound up
or softened with oil.

Jeremiah 8:5-10

5Why then has this people qturned away
in perpetual rbacksliding?
sThey hold fast to deceit;
they refuse to return.
6 tI have paid attention and listened,
but they have not spoken rightly;
no man relents of his evil,
saying, ‘What have I done?’
Everyone turns to his own course,
ulike a horse plunging headlong into battle.
7Even the stork in the heavens
knows her times,
and vthe turtledove, wswallow, and crane
The meaning of the Hebrew word is uncertain

keep the time of their coming,
ybut my people know not
the rules
Or just decrees
of the Lord.
8 aaHow can you say, ‘We are wise,
and the law of the Lord is with us’?
But behold, the lying pen of the scribes
has made it into a lie.
9 abThe wise men shall be put to shame;
they shall be dismayed acand taken;
behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord,
so what wisdom is in them?
10 adTherefore I will give their wives to others
and their fields to conquerors,
because from the least to the greatest
everyone aeis greedy for unjust gain;
from prophet to priest,
everyone deals falsely.

Jeremiah 9:26

26 afEgypt, Judah, Edom, the sons of Ammon, Moab, and agall who dwell in the desert who cut the corners of their hair, for all these nations are uncircumcised, and all the house of Israel are ahuncircumcised in heart.”

Ezekiel 22:26-31

26 aiHer priests ajhave done violence to my law and akhave profaned my holy things. alThey have made no distinction between the holy and the common, neither have they taught the difference between the unclean and the clean, and amthey have disregarded my Sabbaths, anso that I am profaned among them. 27 aoHer princes in her midst are like wolves aptearing the prey, aqshedding blood, destroying lives to get dishonest gain. 28And arher prophets have smeared whitewash for them, asseeing false visions and divining lies for them, saying, ‘Thus says the Lord God,’ when the Lord has not spoken. 29The people of the land athave practiced extortion and committed robbery. They have oppressed the poor and needy, and auhave extorted from the sojourner without justice. 30 avAnd I sought for a man among them awwho should build up the wall axand stand in the breach before me for the land, that I should not destroy it, but I found none. 31Therefore ayI have poured out my indignation upon them. I have consumed them with the fire of my wrath. I have returned aztheir way upon their heads, declares the Lord God.”
