20 Do you think that mere words are strategy and power for war? In whom do you now trust, that you have rebelled against me?

Jeremiah 23:14-16

14 But in the prophets of Jerusalem
I have seen a horrible thing:
^athey commit adultery and walk in lies;
^bthey strengthen the hands of evildoers,
so that no one turns from his evil;
^call of them have become like Sodom to me,
^dand its inhabitants like Gomorrah.”
15 Therefore thus says the Lord of hosts concerning the prophets:
^e“Behold, I will feed them with bitter food
^fand give them ^gpoisoned water to drink,
for from the prophets of Jerusalem
ungodliness has gone out into all the land.”
16 Thus says the Lord of hosts: “Do not listen to the words of the prophets who prophesy to you, ^hfilling you with vain hopes. ⁱThey speak visions of their own minds, not from the mouth of the Lord.
