2 Kings 18:9-12

9In the fourth year of King Hezekiah, which was the seventh year of Hoshea son of Elah, king of Israel, aShalmaneser king of Assyria came up against Samaria and besieged it, 10and at the end of three years he took it. In the sixth year of Hezekiah, which was the ninth year of Hoshea king of Israel, Samaria was taken. 11The king of Assyria carried the Israelites away to Assyria and put them in bHalah, and on the cHabor, dthe river of Gozan, and in the cities of the Medes, 12because they did not obey the voice of the Lord their God but transgressed his covenant, even all that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded. They neither listened nor obeyed.

2 Chronicles 36:14-17

14All the officers of the priests and the people likewise were exceedingly unfaithful, following all the abominations of the nations. And they polluted the house of the Lord that he had made holy in Jerusalem.

15The Lord, the God of their fathers, esent persistently to them by his messengers, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place. 16 fBut they kept mocking the messengers of God, gdespising his words and scoffing at his prophets, huntil the wrath of the Lord rose against his people, until there was no remedy.

17 iTherefore he brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary and had no compassion on young man or virgin, old man or aged. He gave them all into his hand.

Jeremiah 27:8

8“‘“But if any nation or kingdom will not serve this Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, jand put its neck under the yoke of the king of Babylon, I will punish that nation kwith the sword, with famine, and with pestilence, declares the Lord, until I have consumed it by his hand.
