2 Kings 19:2-3

2 And he sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the secretary, and the senior priests, ^acovered with sackcloth, to the prophet Isaiah the son of Amoz. 3 They said to him, “Thus says Hezekiah, This day is a day of distress, of rebuke, and of disgrace; children have come to the point of birth, and there is no strength to bring them forth.

2 Chronicles 34:19-21

19 And when the king heard the words of the Law, ^bhe tore his clothes. 20 And the king commanded Hilkiah, Ahikam the son of Shaphan, Abdon the son of Micah, Shaphan the secretary, and Asaiah the king’s servant, saying, 21 “Go, inquire of the Lord for me and for those who are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that has been found. For great is ^cthe wrath of the Lord that is poured out on us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the Lord, to do according to all that is written in this book.”

Hezekiah Seeks Isaiah’s Help

1 ^dAs soon as King Hezekiah heard it, he tore his clothes and covered himself with sackcloth and went into the house of the Lord. 2 And he sent Eliakim, who was over the household, and Shebna the secretary, and the senior priests, covered with sackcloth, to the prophet ^eIsaiah the son of Amoz. 3 They said to him, “Thus says Hezekiah, ‘This day is a ^fday of distress, of rebuke, and of disgrace; ^gchildren have come to the point of birth, and there is no strength to bring them forth. 4 ^hIt may be that the Lord your God will hear the words of the Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent to mock the living God, and will rebuke the words that the Lord your God has heard; therefore lift up your prayer for ⁱthe remnant that is left.’”
