2 Kings 19:3-4

3They said to him, “Thus says Hezekiah, This day is a day of distress, of rebuke, and of disgrace; children have come to the point of birth, and there is no strength to bring them forth. 4 aIt may be that the Lord your God heard all the words of the Rabshakeh, whom his master the king of Assyria has sent bto mock the living God, and will rebuke the words that the Lord your God has heard; therefore lift up your prayer for cthe remnant that is left.”

2 Kings 19:15-20

15And Hezekiah prayed before the Lord and said: “O Lord, the God of Israel, denthroned above the cherubim, eyou are the God, you alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; you have made heaven and earth. 16 fIncline your ear, O Lord, and hear; gopen your eyes, O Lord, and see; and hear the words of Sennacherib, which he has sent hto mock the living God. 17Truly, O Lord, the kings of Assyria have laid waste the nations and their lands 18and have cast their gods into the fire, for they were not gods, ibut the work of men’s hands, wood and stone. Therefore they were destroyed. 19So now, O Lord our God, save us, please, from his hand, jthat all the kingdoms of the earth may know that kyou, O Lord, are God alone.”

Isaiah Prophesies Sennacherib’s Fall

20Then Isaiah the son of Amoz sent to Hezekiah, saying, “Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel: Your prayer to me about Sennacherib king of Assyria lI have heard.

Isaiah 26:9

9My soul yearns for you in the night;
my spirit within me earnestly seeks you.
mFor when your judgments are in the earth,
the inhabitants of the world learn righteousness.

Isaiah 26:16

16 O Lord, nin distress they sought you;
they poured out a whispered prayer
when your discipline was upon them.

Jonah 2:1-2

Jonah’s Prayer

1Then Jonah prayed to the Lord his God from the belly of the fish, 2saying,

o“I called out to the Lord, out of my distress,
and he answered me;
pout of the belly of Sheol I cried,
qand you heard my voice.

2 Corinthians 12:7-8

7So rto keep me from becoming conceited because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations,
Or  hears from me, even because of the surpassing greatness of the revelations. So to keep me from becoming conceited
ta thorn was given me in the flesh, ua messenger of Satan to harass me, to keep me from becoming conceited.
8 vThree times I pleaded with the Lord about this, that it should leave me.
