2 Kings 24:7

7 aAnd the king of Egypt did not come again out of his land, bfor the king of Babylon had taken all that belonged to the king of Egypt cfrom the Brook of Egypt to the river Euphrates.

Isaiah 20:5-6

5 dThen they shall be dismayed and ashamed because of Cush their hope and of Egypt their boast. 6And the inhabitants of ethis coastland will say in that day, ‘Behold, this is what has happened to those in whom we hoped and fto whom we fled for help to be delivered from the king of Assyria! And we, how shall we escape?’”

Isaiah 30:1-7

Do Not Go Down to Egypt

1 Ah, gstubborn children,” declares the Lord,
h“who carry out a plan, but not mine,
and who make ian alliance,
Hebrew  who weave a web
but not of my Spirit,
that they may add sin to sin;
2 kwho set out to go down to Egypt,
without asking for my direction,
to take refuge in the protection of Pharaoh
and to seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt!
3 lTherefore shall the protection of Pharaoh turn to your shame,
and the shelter in the shadow of Egypt to your humiliation.
4For though his officials are at mZoan
and nhis envoys reach oHanes,
5everyone comes to shame
through pa people that cannot profit them,
that brings neither help nor profit,
but shame and disgrace.”
6An qoracle on rthe beasts of sthe Negeb.

Through a land of trouble and anguish,
from where come the lioness and the lion,
the adder and the tflying fiery serpent,
they carry their riches on the backs of donkeys,
and their treasures on the humps of camels,
to a people that cannot profit them.
7Egypt’s uhelp is worthless and empty;
therefore I have called her
vRahab who sits still.”

Isaiah 31:1-3

Woe to Those Who Go Down to Egypt

1 Woe to wthose who go down to Egypt for help
and rely on horses,
who xtrust in chariots because they are many
and in horsemen because they are very strong,
but ydo not look to the Holy One of Israel
or consult the Lord!
2And zyet he is wise and brings disaster;
aahe does not call back his words,
but abwill arise against the house of the evildoers
and against the helpers of acthose who work iniquity.
3The Egyptians are man, and not God,
and their horses adare flesh, and not spirit.
When the Lord stretches out his hand,
the helper will stumble, and he who is helped will fall,
and they will all perish together.

Jeremiah 2:36-37

36 aeHow much you go about,
changing your way!
You shall be afput to shame by Egypt
as you were put to shame by Assyria.
37From it too you will come away
with agyour hands on your head,
for the Lord has rejected those in whom you trust,
and you will not prosper by them.

Jeremiah 30:13-15

13There is none to uphold your cause,
no medicine for your wound,
ahno healing for you.
14 aiAll your lovers have forgotten you;
they care nothing for you;
for I have dealt you the blow of ajan enemy,
the punishment akof a merciless foe,
because your guilt is great,
albecause your sins are flagrant.
15 amWhy do you cry out over your hurt?
anYour pain is incurable.
Because your guilt is great,
aobecause your sins are flagrant,
I have done these things to you.
