Fall and Captivity of Judah

1 aAnd in the ninth year of his reign, in the tenth month, on the tenth day of the month, bNebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came with all his army against Jerusalem and laid siege to it. cAnd they built siegeworks all around it. 2So the city was besieged till the eleventh year of King Zedekiah. 3On the ninth day of the fourth month dthe famine was so severe in the city that there was no food for the people of the land. 4Then a breach was made in the city, and all the men of war fled by night by the way of the gate between the two walls, by ethe king’s garden, and fthe Chaldeans were around the city. And they went in the direction of the gArabah. 5But the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook him in the plains of Jericho, and all his army was scattered from him. 6Then they captured the king hand brought him up to the king of Babylon at iRiblah, and they passed sentence on him. 7They slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, jand put out the eyes of Zedekiah and bound him in chains and took him to Babylon.

8 kIn the fifth month, on lthe seventh day of the month—that was the nineteenth year of King Nebuchadnezzar, king of BabylonNebuzaradan, the captain of the bodyguard, a servant of the king of Babylon, came to Jerusalem. 9 mAnd he burned the house of the Lord nand the king’s house and all the houses of Jerusalem; every great house he burned down.

2 Chronicles 36:12-17

12He did what was evil in the sight of the Lord his God. He did not humble himself before oJeremiah the prophet, who spoke from the mouth of the Lord. 13 pHe also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God. qHe stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against turning to the Lord, the God of Israel. 14All the officers of the priests and the people likewise were exceedingly unfaithful, following all the abominations of the nations. And they polluted the house of the Lord that he had made holy in Jerusalem.

15The Lord, the God of their fathers, rsent persistently to them by his messengers, because he had compassion on his people and on his dwelling place. 16 sBut they kept mocking the messengers of God, tdespising his words and scoffing at his prophets, uuntil the wrath of the Lord rose against his people, until there was no remedy.

Jerusalem Captured and Burned

17 vTherefore he brought up against them the king of the Chaldeans, who killed their young men with the sword in the house of their sanctuary and had no compassion on young man or virgin, old man or aged. He gave them all into his hand.

Jeremiah 32:2

2At that time the army of the king of Babylon was besieging Jerusalem, and Jeremiah the prophet wwas shut up in xthe court of the guard that was in the palace of the king of Judah.

Jeremiah 34:7

7when the army of the king of Babylon was fighting against Jerusalem and against all the cities of Judah that were left, yLachish and zAzekah, aafor these were the only abfortified cities of Judah that remained.

The Fall of Jerusalem

1 acIn the ninth year of Zedekiah king of Judah, in the tenth month, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon and all his army came against Jerusalem and besieged it. 2In the eleventh year of Zedekiah, in the fourth month, on the ninth day of the month, a breach was made in the city. 3Then all adthe officials of the king of Babylon came aeand sat in the middle gate: Nergal-sar-ezer of Samgar, Nebu-sar-sekim afthe Rab-saris, Nergal-sar-ezer the Rab-mag, with all the rest of the officers of the king of Babylon.

And they went in the direction of the Arabah. 8But the army of the Chaldeans pursued the king and overtook Zedekiah in the plains of Jericho, and all his army was scattered from him. 9Then they captured the king and brought him up to the king of Babylon at Riblah in the land of Hamath, and he passed sentence on him. 10The king of Babylon slaughtered the sons of Zedekiah before his eyes, and also slaughtered all the officials of Judah at ahRiblah. 11 aiHe put out the eyes of Zedekiah, and bound him in chains, and the king of Babylon took him to Babylon, and put him in prison ajtill the day of his death.
