Elisha and the Widow’s Oil

1Now the wife of one of the asons of the prophets cried to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the Lord, bbut the creditor has come to take my two children to be his slaves.” 2And Elisha said to her, “What shall I do for you? Tell me; what have you in the house?” And she said, “Your servant has nothing in the house except a jar of oil.” 3Then he said, “Go outside, borrow vessels from all your neighbors, empty vessels and not too few. 4Then go in and shut the door behind yourself and your sons and pour into all these vessels. And when one is full, set it aside.” 5So she went from him and shut the door behind herself and her sons. And as she poured they brought the vessels to her. 6When the vessels were full, she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.” And he said to her, “There is not another.” Then the oil stopped flowing. 7She came and told the cman of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts, and you and your sons can live on the rest.”

Matthew 15:37-38

37And dthey all ate and were satisfied. And they took up seven baskets full of the broken pieces left over. 38Those who ate were four thousand men, besides women and children.

Matthew 16:8-10

8But eJesus, aware of this, said, f“O you of little faith, why are you discussing among yourselves the fact that you have no bread? 9 gDo you not yet perceive? Do you not remember hthe five loaves for the five thousand, and how many baskets you gathered? 10Or ithe seven loaves for the four thousand, and how many baskets you gathered?

Mark 6:42-44

42And they all ate and were satisfied. 43And they took up twelve baskets full of broken pieces and of the fish. 44And those who ate the loaves were five thousand men.

Mark 8:8-9

8And jthey ate and were satisfied. And they took up the broken pieces left over, kseven baskets full. 9And there were about four thousand people. And he sent them away.

Mark 8:16-21

16And they began discussing with one another the fact that they had no bread. 17And lJesus, aware of this, said to them, Why are you discussing the fact that you have no bread? mDo you not yet perceive nor understand? oAre your hearts hardened? 18 pHaving eyes do you not see, and having ears do you not hear? And do you not remember? 19When I broke qthe five loaves for the five thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?” They said to him, “Twelve.” 20And rthe seven for the four thousand, how many baskets full of broken pieces did you take up?” And they said to him, “Seven.” 21And he said to them, Do you not yet understand?”

John 6:12-14

12And when they had eaten their fill, he told his disciples, Gather up the leftover fragments, that nothing may be lost.” 13So they gathered them up and filled twelve baskets with fragments from the five barley loaves left by those who had eaten. 14When the people saw the sign that he had done, they said, sThis is indeed tthe Prophet uwho is to come into the world!”
