9But the man of God sent word to the king of Israel, “Beware that you do not pass this place, for the Syrians are going down there.” 10And the king of Israel sent to the place about which the man of God told him. Thus he used to warn him, so that he saved himself there more than once or twice.

28but mthere is a God in heaven who reveals mysteries, and he has made known to King Nebuchadnezzar nwhat will be in the latter days. Your dream and othe visions of your head as you lay in bed are these: 29To you, O king, as you lay in bed came thoughts of what would be after this, pand he who reveals mysteries made known to you what is to be. 30But qas for me, this mystery has been revealed to me, not because of any wisdom that I have more than all the living, but in order that the interpretation may be made known to the king, and that ryou may know the thoughts of your mind.

Daniel 4:9-18

9“O Belteshazzar, vchief of the magicians, because I know that wthe spirit of the holy gods is in you and that no xmystery is too difficult for you, tell me ythe visions of my dream that I saw and their interpretation. 10 zThe visions of my head as I lay in bed were these: I saw, and aabehold, a tree in the midst of the earth, and its height was great. 11 abThe tree grew and became strong, and its top reached to heaven, and it was visible to the end of the whole earth. 12 acIts leaves were beautiful and its fruit abundant, and in it was food for all. adThe beasts of the field found shade under it, and aethe birds of the heavens lived in its branches, and all flesh was fed from it.

13“I saw in afthe visions of my head as I lay in bed, and behold, aga watcher, aha holy one, came down from heaven. 14He aiproclaimed aloud and said thus: ajChop down the tree and aklop off its branches, alstrip off its leaves and scatter its fruit. amLet the beasts flee from under it and the birds from its branches. 15But leave the stump of its roots in the earth, bound with a band of iron and bronze, amid the tender grass of the field. Let him be wet with the dew of heaven. Let his portion be with the beasts in the grass of the earth. 16Let his mind be changed from a man’s, and let a beast’s mind be given to him; anand let seven periods of time aopass over him. 17The sentence is by the decree of apthe watchers, the decision by the word of aqthe holy ones, to the end that the living may know that the Most High arrules the kingdom of men asand gives it to whom he will and atsets over it the lowliest of men.’ 18This dream I, King Nebuchadnezzar, saw. And you, O auBelteshazzar, tell me the interpretation, because avall the wise men of my kingdom are not able to make known to me the interpretation, but you are able, for awthe spirit of the holy gods is in you.”
