2 Peter 2:18-22

18For, aspeaking loud boasts of folly, they entice by sensual passions of the flesh those who are barely bescaping from those who live in error. 19They promise them cfreedom, dbut they themselves are slaves

of corruption. For whatever overcomes a person, to that he is enslaved.
20For if, fafter they have escaped the defilements of the world gthrough the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, hthe last state has become worse for them than the first. 21For iit would have been better for them never to have known the way of righteousness than after knowing it to turn back from jthe holy commandment delivered to them. 22What the true proverb says has happened to them: “The kdog returns to its own vomit, and the sow, after washing herself, returns to wallow in the mire.”

1 John 2:19

19 lThey went out from us, but they were not of us; for mif they had been of us, they would have continued with us. But they went out, nthat it might become plain that they all are not of us.

1 John 5:16-18

16If anyone sees his brother committing a sin not leading to death, he shall ask, and oGod
Greek he
will give him life—to those who commit sins that do not lead to death. qThere is sin that leads to death; rI do not say that one should pray for that.
17 sAll wrongdoing is sin, but there is sin that does not lead to death.

18We know that teveryone who has been born of God does not keep on sinning, but uhe who was born of God vprotects him, and the evil one does not touch him.
