2 Samuel 12:24-25

Solomon’s Birth

24Then David comforted his wife, Bathsheba, and went in to her and lay with her, and ashe bore a son, and he called his name bSolomon. And the Lord loved him 25and sent a message by Nathan the prophet. So he called his name Jedidiah,
 Jedidiah means beloved of the Lord
because of the Lord.

1 Kings 1:13

13Go in at once to King David, and say to him, ‘Did you not, my lord the king, swear to your servant, saying, dSolomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne”? Why then is Adonijah king?’

1 Kings 1:17

17She said to him, “My lord, you swore to your servant by the Lord your God, saying, eSolomon your son shall reign after me, and he shall sit on my throne.’

1 Kings 2:15

15He said, “You know that fthe kingdom was mine, and that all Israel fully expected me to reign. However, the kingdom has turned about and become my brother’s, gfor it was his from the Lord.

1 Kings 3:3

3Solomon hloved the Lord, iwalking in the statutes of David his father, only he sacrificed and made offerings at the high places.

1 Kings 3:5-11

5 jAt Gibeon kthe Lord appeared to Solomon lin a dream by night, and God said, “Ask what I shall give you.” 6And Solomon said, “You have shown great and steadfast love to your servant David my father, because mhe walked before you in faithfulness, in righteousness, and in uprightness of heart toward you. And you have kept for him this great and steadfast love and nhave given him a son to sit on his throne this day. 7And now, O Lord my God, oyou have made your servant king in place of David my father, palthough I am but a little child. I do not know qhow to go out or come in. 8 rAnd your servant is in the midst of your people whom you have chosen, a great people, stoo many to be numbered or counted for multitude. 9 tGive your servant therefore an understanding mind uto govern your people, that I may vdiscern between good and evil, for who is able to govern this your great people?”

10It pleased the Lord that Solomon had asked this. 11And God said to him, “Because you have asked this, and have not asked for yourself long life or riches or the life of your enemies, but have asked for yourself understanding to discern what is right,

1 Chronicles 22:9-12

9Behold, a son shall be born to you who shall be a man of rest. wI will give him rest from all his surrounding enemies. xFor his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel in his days. 10 yHe shall build a house for my name. zHe shall be my son, and I will be his father, and I will establish his royal throne in Israel forever.’

11Now, my son, aathe Lord be with you, so that you may succeed in building the house of the Lord your God, as he has spoken concerning you. 12 abOnly, may the Lord grant you discretion and understanding, that when he gives you charge over Israel you may keep the law of the Lord your God.

1 Chronicles 28:5-6

5And of acall my sons (for the Lord has given me many sons) he adhas chosen Solomon my son to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel. 6He said to me, ‘It is aeSolomon your son who shall build my house and my courts, for I have chosen him to be my son, and I will be his father.
