2 Samuel 17:14

14And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel.” bFor the Lord had ordained

to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, so that the Lord might bring harm upon Absalom.

2 Samuel 17:23

23When Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his donkey and went off home to dhis own city. He eset his house in order and fhanged himself, and he died and was buried in the tomb of his father.

2 Chronicles 25:16-20

16But as he was speaking, the king said to him, “Have we made you a royal counselor? Stop! Why should you be struck down?” So the prophet stopped, but said, “I know that gGod has determined to destroy you, because you have done this and have not listened to my counsel.”

Israel Defeats Amaziah

17 hThen Amaziah king of Judah took counsel and sent to Joash the son of Jehoahaz, son of Jehu, king of Israel, saying, “Come, let us look one another in the face.” 18And Joash the king of Israel sent word to Amaziah king of Judah, i“A thistle on Lebanon sent to a cedar on Lebanon, saying, ‘Give your daughter to my son for a wife,’ and a wild beast of Lebanon passed by and trampled down the thistle. 19You say, ‘See, I

20But Amaziah would not listen, for it was of God, in order that he might give them into the hand of their enemies, lbecause they had sought the gods of Edom.

Job 5:12-13
