2 Samuel 16:21-22

21Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Go in to ayour father’s concubines, whom he has left to keep the house, and all Israel will hear that you have made yourself a stench to your father, and bthe hands of all who are with you will be strengthened.” 22So they pitched a tent for Absalom con the roof. And Absalom went in to his father’s concubines din the sight of all Israel.

Isaiah 59:6-15

6 eTheir webs will not serve as clothing;
men will not cover themselves with what they make.
Their works are works of iniquity,
and deeds of violence are in their hands.
7 fTheir feet run to evil,
and they are swift to shed innocent blood;
their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity;
desolation and destruction are in their highways.
8The way of peace they do not know,
and there is no justice in their paths;
they have made their roads crooked;
gno one who treads on them knows peace.
9 Therefore justice is far from us,
and righteousness does not overtake us;
hwe hope for light, and behold, darkness,
and for brightness, but we walk in gloom.
10 iWe grope for the wall like the blind;
we grope like those who have no eyes;
we stumble at noon as in the twilight,
jamong those in full vigor we are like dead men.
11We all growl like bears;
kwe moan and moan like doves;
lwe hope for justice, but there is none;
for salvation, but it is far from us.
12For our transgressions are multiplied before you,
and our sins testify against us;
for our transgressions are with us,
and we know our iniquities:
13transgressing, and denying the Lord,
and turning back from following our God,
mspeaking oppression and revolt,
conceiving and uttering from the heart lying words.

Judgment and Redemption

14 nJustice is turned back,
and righteousness stands far away;
for truth has stumbled in the public squares,
and uprightness cannot enter.
15Truth is lacking,
and he who departs from evil makes himself a prey.
The Lord saw it, and it displeased him
Hebrew  and it was evil in his eyes

that there was no justice.

Ezekiel 9:4

4And the Lord said to him, “Pass through the city, through Jerusalem, and pput a mark on the foreheads of the men who qsigh and groan over all the abominations that are committed in it.”

Zephaniah 3:1-3

Judgment on Jerusalem and the Nations

1 Woe to her who is rebellious and defiled,
rthe oppressing city!
2She listens to no voice;
sshe accepts no correction.
tShe does not trust in the Lord;
she does not draw near to her God.
3 uHer officials within her
are roaring lions;
her judges are vevening wolves
that leave nothing till the morning.
