23Now in those days the counsel that Ahithophel gave was as if one consulted the word of God; so was all the counsel of Ahithophel esteemed, aboth by David and by Absalom.

2 Samuel 17:14

14And Absalom and all the men of Israel said, “The counsel of Hushai the Archite is better than the counsel of Ahithophel.” bFor the Lord had ordained

to defeat the good counsel of Ahithophel, so that the Lord might bring harm upon Absalom.

2 Samuel 17:23

23When Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his donkey and went off home to dhis own city. He eset his house in order and fhanged himself, and he died and was buried in the tomb of his father.

Job 5:12

12He gfrustrates the devices of the crafty,
so that their hands achieve no success.

16With him are strength and hsound wisdom;

Isaiah 19:11-25

11 The princes of pZoan are utterly foolish;
the wisest counselors of Pharaoh give stupid counsel.
How can you say to Pharaoh,
“I am a son of the wise,
a son of ancient kings”?
12Where then are your qwise men?
Let them tell you
that they might know what the Lord of hosts has purposed against Egypt.
13The princes of rZoan have become fools,
and the princes of sMemphis are deluded;
those who are the tcornerstones of her tribes
have made Egypt stagger.
14The Lord has mingled within her ua spirit of confusion,
and they will make Egypt stagger in all its deeds,
vas a drunken man staggers in his vomit.
15And there will be nothing for Egypt
that whead or tail, palm branch or reed, may do.

16In that day the Egyptians will be xlike women, and ytremble with fear before the hand that the Lord of hosts shakes over them. 17And the land of Judah will become a terror to the Egyptians. Everyone to whom it is mentioned will fear because of the purpose that the Lord of hosts has purposed against them.

18 zIn that day there will be aafive cities in the land of Egypt that abspeak the language of Canaan and swear allegiance to the Lord of hosts. One of these will be called the City of Destruction.

19In that day there will be an adaltar to the Lord in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a aepillar to the Lord at its border. 20 afIt will be a sign and a witness to the Lord of hosts in the land of Egypt. When they cry to the Lord because of oppressors, aghe will send them a savior and defender, and deliver them. 21 ahAnd the Lord will make himself known to the Egyptians, and the Egyptians will know the Lord in that day aiand worship with sacrifice and offering, and they will make vows to the Lord and perform them. 22 ajAnd the Lord will strike Egypt, striking and healing, and they will return to the Lord, and he will listen to their pleas for mercy and heal them.

23 akIn that day there will be a highway from Egypt to Assyria, and Assyria will come into Egypt, and Egypt into Assyria, aland the Egyptians will worship with the Assyrians.

24In that day Israel will be the third with Egypt and Assyria, ama blessing in the midst of the earth, 25whom the Lord of hosts has blessed, saying, “Blessed be Egypt anmy people, and Assyria aothe work of my hands, and apIsrael my inheritance.”

Jeremiah 8:8-9

8 aqHow can you say, ‘We are wise,
and the law of the Lord is with us’?
But behold, the lying pen of the scribes
has made it into a lie.
9 arThe wise men shall be put to shame;
they shall be dismayed asand taken;
behold, they have rejected the word of the Lord,
so what wisdom is in them?
