2 Samuel 17:1-4

Hushai Saves David

1Moreover, Ahithophel said to Absalom, “Let me choose twelve thousand men, and I will arise and pursue David tonight. 2I will come upon him while he is aweary and discouraged and throw him into a panic, and all the people who are with him will flee. bI will strike down only the king, 3and I will bring all the people back to you as a bride comes home to her husband. You seek the life of only one man,
Septuagint; Hebrew  back to you. Like the return of the whole is the man whom you seek
and all the people will be at peace.”
4And the advice seemed right in the eyes of Absalom and all the elders of Israel.

Proverbs 1:11-19

11If they say, “Come with us, dlet us lie in wait for blood;
elet us ambush the innocent without reason;
12like Sheol let us fswallow them alive,
and whole, like gthose who go down to the pit;
13we shall find all precious goods,
we shall fill our houses with plunder;
14throw in your lot among us;
we will all have one purse”—
15my son, hdo not walk in the way with them;
ihold back your foot from their paths,
16for jtheir feet run to evil,
and they make haste to shed blood.
17 kFor in vain is a net spread
in the sight of any bird,
18but these men llie in wait for their own blood;
they mset an ambush for their own lives.
19 nSuch are the ways of everyone who is ogreedy for unjust gain;
pit takes away the life of its possessors.

Isaiah 59:7

7 qTheir feet run to evil,
and they are swift to shed innocent blood;
their thoughts are thoughts of iniquity;
desolation and destruction are in their highways.

Jeremiah 5:26

26For wicked men are found among my people;
rthey lurk like fowlers lying in wait.
The meaning of the Hebrew is uncertain

tThey set a trap;
they catch men.

Micah 7:1-2

Wait for the God of Salvation

1 Woe is me! For I have become
uas when the summer fruit has been gathered,
as when the grapes have been gleaned:
there is no cluster to eat,
no vfirst-ripe fig that my soul desires.
2 wThe godly has perished from the earth,
and xthere is no one upright among mankind;
ythey all lie in wait for blood,
and zeach hunts the other with a net.

Acts 23:12

A Plot to Kill Paul

Acts 23:15

15Now therefore you, along with the council, give notice to the tribune to bring him down to you, as though you were going to determine his case more exactly. And we are ready to kill him before he comes near.”
