2 Samuel 21:1-6

David Avenges the Gibeonites

1Now there was a famine in the days of David for three years, year after year. And David asought the face of the Lord. And the Lord said, “There is bloodguilt on Saul and on his house, because he put the Gibeonites to death.” 2So the king called the Gibeonites and spoke to them. Now the Gibeonites were not of the people of Israel but bof the remnant of the Amorites. Although the people of Israel had sworn to spare them, Saul had sought to strike them down in his zeal for the people of Israel and Judah. 3And David said to the Gibeonites, “What shall I do for you? And how shall I make atonement, that you may bless cthe heritage of the Lord?” 4The Gibeonites said to him, “It is not a matter of silver or gold between us and Saul or his house; neither is it for us to put any man to death in Israel.” And he said, “What do you say that I shall do for you?” 5They said to the king, “The man who consumed us and planned to destroy us, so that we should have no place in all the territory of Israel, 6let seven of his sons be given to us, so that we may hang them before the Lord at dGibeah of Saul, ethe chosen of the Lord.” And the king said, “I will give them.”

2 Chronicles 36:13

13 fHe also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him swear by God. gHe stiffened his neck and hardened his heart against turning to the Lord, the God of Israel.

Ezekiel 17:12-21

12Say now to ithe rebellious house, jDo you not know what these things mean? Tell them, behold, kthe king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and took her king and her princes and brought them to him to Babylon. 13 lAnd he took one of the royal offspring

nand made a covenant with him, oputting him under oath ( pthe chief men of the land he had taken away),
14that the kingdom might be humble and not lift itself up, and keep his covenant that it might stand. 15 qBut he rebelled against him by sending his ambassadors rto Egypt, that they might give him horses and a large army. sWill he thrive? Can one escape who does such things? Can he tbreak the covenant and yet escape?

16 u“As I live, declares the Lord God, surely vin the place where the king dwells wwho made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant with him he broke, in Babylon he shall die. 17 xPharaoh with his mighty army and great company will not help him in war, ywhen mounds are cast up and siege walls built to cut off many lives. 18He despised the oath in breaking the covenant, and behold, he gave his hand and did all these things; he shall not escape. 19Therefore thus says the Lord God: As I live, surely it is my oath that he despised, and my covenant that he broke. I will return it upon his head. 20 zI will spread my net over him, and he shall be taken in my snare, and I will bring him to Babylon aaand enter into judgment with him there abfor the treachery he has committed against me. 21And all the pick

Zechariah 5:3-4

3Then he said to me, “This is afthe curse that goes out over the face of the whole land. For everyone who agsteals shall be cleaned out according to what is on one side, and everyone who ahswears falsely

Malachi 3:5

5“Then I will draw near to you for judgment. I will be ama swift witness against the sorcerers, against the adulterers, against those who swear falsely, against those anwho oppress the hired worker in his wages, aothe widow and the fatherless, against those who thrust aside the sojourner, and do not fear me, says the Lord of hosts.
