21And Abner said to David, “I will arise and go and awill gather all Israel to my lord the king, that they may make a covenant with you, and that you may breign over all that your heart desires.” So David sent Abner away, and he went in peace.

27And when Abner returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside into the midst of the gate to speak with him privately, cand there he struck him din the stomach, so that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.

14And he swayed the heart of all the men of Judah las one man, so that they sent word to the king, “Return, both you and all your servants.”

2 Samuel 19:41-43

41Then all the men of Israel came to the king and said to the king, “Why have our brothers the men of Judah stolen you away and mbrought the king and his household over the Jordan, and all David’s men with him?” 42All the men of Judah answered the men of Israel, “Because the king is nour close relative. Why then are you angry over this matter? Have we eaten at all at the king’s expense? Or has he given us any gift?” 43And the men of Israel answered the men of Judah, “We have oten shares in the king, and in David also we have more than you. Why then did you despise us? Were we not the first to speak of bringing back our king?” pBut the words of the men of Judah were fiercer than the words of the men of Israel.

2 Samuel 20:1-2

The Rebellion of Sheba

1Now there happened to be there qa worthless man, whose name was Sheba, the son of Bichri, a Benjaminite. And he blew the trumpet and said,

r“We have no portion in David,
and we have no inheritance in the son of Jesse;
severy man to his tents, O Israel!”
2So all the men of Israel withdrew from David and followed Sheba the son of Bichri. But the men of Judah followed their king steadfastly from the Jordan to Jerusalem.

1 Chronicles 11:1-3

David Anointed King

1 tThen all Israel gathered together to David at Hebron and said, “Behold, we are your bone and flesh. 2In times past, even when Saul was king, it was you who led out and brought in Israel. And they anointed David king over Israel, vaccording to the word of the Lord by Samuel.

1 Chronicles 12:38-40

38All these, men of war, arrayed in battle order, came to Hebron with wa whole heart to make David king over all Israel. Likewise, all the rest of Israel were of a xsingle mind to make David king. 39And they were there with David for three days, eating and drinking, for their brothers had made preparation for them. 40And also their relatives, from as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, came bringing food on donkeys and on camels and on mules and on oxen, abundant provisions of flour, ycakes of figs, clusters of raisins, and wine and oil, oxen and sheep, for there was joy in Israel.

Matthew 21:8-10

8Most of the crowd zspread their cloaks on the road, and others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. 9And the crowds that went before him and that followed him were shouting, aaHosanna to abthe Son of David! acBlessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord! Hosanna adin the highest!” 10And aewhen he entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred up, saying, “Who is this?”
