2 Samuel 5:7-9

7Nevertheless, David took the stronghold of Zion, athat is, the city of David. 8And David said on that day, “Whoever would strike the Jebusites, let him get up the water shaft to attack ‘the lame and the blind,’ who are hated by David’s soul.” Therefore it is said, “The blind and the lame shall not come into the house.” 9And David lived in the stronghold and called it bthe city of David. And David built the city all around from the cMillo inward.

2 Samuel 6:12-17

12And it was told King David, “The Lord has blessed the household of Obed-edom and all that belongs to him, because of the ark of God.” dSo David went and brought up the ark of God from the house of Obed-edom eto the city of David with rejoicing. 13And when fthose who bore the ark of the Lord had gone six steps, ghe sacrificed an ox and a fattened animal. 14And David hdanced before the Lord with all his might. And David was iwearing a linen ephod. 15So David and all the house of Israel brought up the ark of the Lord with shouting and with the sound of the horn.

16As the ark of the Lord came into the city of David, Michal the daughter of Saul looked out of the window and saw King David leaping and dancing before the Lord, and she despised him in her heart. 17And they brought in the ark of the Lord and set it jin its place, inside the tent that David had pitched for it. kAnd David offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before the Lord.

1 Kings 3:15

15And Solomon lawoke, and behold, it was a dream. Then he came to Jerusalem and stood before the ark of the covenant of the Lord, and offered up burnt offerings and peace offerings, and made a feast for all his servants.

1 Chronicles 11:7

7And David lived in the stronghold; therefore it was called the city of David.
