12 aWhen your days are fulfilled and byou lie down with your fathers, cI will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom. 13 dHe shall build a house for my name, and eI will establish the throne of his kingdom forever. 14 fI will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son. When he commits iniquity, gI will discipline him with the rod of men, with the stripes of the sons of men, 15 hbut my steadfast love will not depart from him, ias I took it from Saul, whom I put away from before you. 16 jAnd your house and your kingdom shall be made sure forever before me.

2 Samuel 12:24-25

Solomon’s Birth

24Then David comforted his wife, Bathsheba, and went in to her and lay with her, and mshe bore a son, and he called his name nSolomon. And the Lord loved him 25and sent a message by Nathan the prophet. So he called his name Jedidiah,
 Jedidiah means beloved of the Lord
because of the Lord.

1 Chronicles 22:9-10

9Behold, a son shall be born to you who shall be a man of rest. pI will give him rest from all his surrounding enemies. qFor his name shall be Solomon, and I will give peace and quiet to Israel in his days. 10 rHe shall build a house for my name. sHe shall be my son, and I will be his father, and I will establish his royal throne in Israel forever.’

1 Chronicles 28:4-5

4Yet the Lord God of Israel tchose me from all my father’s house to be king over Israel uforever. vFor he chose Judah as leader, and in the house of Judah my father’s whouse, and among my father’s sons he took pleasure in me to make me king over all Israel. 5And of xall my sons (for the Lord has given me many sons) he yhas chosen Solomon my son to sit on the throne of the kingdom of the Lord over Israel.

1And David the king said to all the assembly, “Solomon my son, whom alone God has chosen, is zyoung and inexperienced, and the work is great, for aathe palace will not be for man but for the Lord God.
