Jeremiah 7:4-11

4 hDo not trust in these deceptive words: ‘This is the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord, the temple of the Lord.’

5For if you truly iamend your ways and your deeds, if you truly jexecute justice one with another, 6if you kdo not oppress the sojourner, the fatherless, or the widow, lor shed innocent blood in this place, mand if you do not go after other gods to your own harm, 7 nthen I will let you dwell in this place, oin the land that I gave of old to your fathers forever.

8Behold, you trust in deceptive words to no avail. 9 pWill you steal, murder, commit adultery, qswear falsely, rmake offerings to Baal, sand go after other gods that you have not known, 10and then come and stand before me in this house, twhich is called by my name, and say, ‘We are delivered!’—only to go on doing all these abominations? 11 uHas this house, vwhich is called by my name, wbecome a den of robbers in your eyes? Behold, I myself have seen it, declares the Lord.

aland the earth is my footstool.
What kind of house will you build for me, says the Lord,

50Did not my hand make all these things?’
