The Humble and Contrite in Spirit

1 gThus says the Lord:
hHeaven is my throne,
and the earth is my footstool;
what is the house that you would build for me,
and what is the place of my rest?
2 iAll these things my hand has made,
and so all these things came to be,

declares the Lord.
jBut this is the one to whom I will look:
he who is humble and contrite in spirit
and trembles at my word.

So it was puntil the days of David, 46 qwho found favor in the sight of God and rasked to find a dwelling place for sthe God of Jacob.
Some manuscripts for the house of Jacob
47But it was uSolomon who built a house for him. 48 vYet the Most High does not dwell win houses made by hands, as the prophet says,

49 x“‘Heaven is my throne,
yand the earth is my footstool.
What kind of house will you build for me, says the Lord,
or what is the place of my rest?
50Did not my hand make all these things?’
