2 Samuel 7:8-12

8Now, therefore, thus you shall say to my servant David, ‘Thus says the Lord of hosts, aI took you from the pasture, from following the sheep, that you should be prince
Or leader
over my people Israel.
9 cAnd I have been with you wherever you went and have cut off all your enemies from before you. And I will make for you a great name, like the name of the great ones of the earth. 10And I will appoint a place for my people Israel dand will plant them, so that they may dwell in their own place eand be disturbed no more. fAnd violent men shall afflict them no more, as formerly, 11 gfrom the time that I appointed judges over my people Israel. And hI will give you rest from all your enemies. Moreover, the Lord declares to you that ithe Lord will make you a house. 12 jWhen your days are fulfilled and kyou lie down with your fathers, lI will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.

2 Samuel 12:7-8

7Nathan said to David, “You are the man! Thus says the Lord, the God of Israel, m‘I anointed you king over Israel, and I delivered you out of the hand of Saul. 8And I gave you your master’s house and your master’s wives into your arms and gave you the house of Israel and of Judah. And if this were too little, I would add to you as much more.

2 Samuel 22:47-51

47 “The Lord lives, and blessed be my rock,
and exalted be nmy God, othe rock of my salvation,
48the God who gave me vengeance
and pbrought down peoples under me,
49who brought me out from my enemies;
you exalted me above qthose who rose against me;
you delivered me from rmen of violence.
50 sFor this I will praise you, O Lord, among the nations,
and sing praises to your name.
51 tGreat salvation he brings
Or He is a tower of salvation
to his king,
and shows steadfast love to vhis anointed,
to David and his offspring wforever.”

1 Chronicles 29:12-14

12 xBoth riches and honor come from you, and you rule over all. yIn your hand are power and might, and in your hand it is to make great and to give strength to all. 13And now we thank you, our God, and praise your glorious name.

14“But who am I, and what is my people, that we should be able thus to offer willingly? For all things come from you, and of your own have we given you.

Psalms 78:70-72

70He zchose David his servant
and took him from the sheepfolds;
71from aafollowing the nursing ewes he brought him
to abshepherd Jacob his people,
Israel his acinheritance.
72With adupright heart he shepherded them
and aeguided them with his skillful hand.
