2 Samuel 7:9-12

9 aAnd I have been with you wherever you went and have cut off all your enemies from before you. And I will make for you a great name, like the name of the great ones of the earth. 10And I will appoint a place for my people Israel band will plant them, so that they may dwell in their own place cand be disturbed no more. dAnd violent men shall afflict them no more, as formerly, 11 efrom the time that I appointed judges over my people Israel. And fI will give you rest from all your enemies. Moreover, the Lord declares to you that gthe Lord will make you a house. 12 hWhen your days are fulfilled and iyou lie down with your fathers, jI will raise up your offspring after you, who shall come from your body, and I will establish his kingdom.

Psalms 11

The Lord Is in His Holy Temple

To the choirmaster. Of David.

1 In the Lord I take refuge;
how can you say to my soul,
kFlee like a bird to your mountain,
2for behold, the wicked lbend the bow;
mthey have fitted their arrow to the string
to shoot in the dark at the upright in heart;
3if nthe foundations are destroyed,
what can the righteous do?”
Or for the foundations will be destroyed; what has the righteous done?

4 pThe Lord is in his holy temple;
the Lord’s qthrone is in heaven;
his eyes see, his eyelids rtest the children of man.
5The Lord stests the righteous,
but this soul hates the wicked and the one who loves violence.
6Let him rain coals on the wicked;
ufire and sulfur and a scorching wind shall be vthe portion of their cup.
7For the Lord is righteous;
he wloves righteous deeds;
xthe upright shall behold his face.
