Acts 13:46-48

46 And Paul and Barnabas spoke out boldly, saying, “It was necessary that the word of God ^abe spoken first to you. ^bSince you thrust it aside and judge yourselves ^cunworthy of eternal life, behold, we ^dare turning to the Gentiles. 47 ^eFor so the Lord has commanded us, saying,

^f“‘I have made you ^ga light for the Gentiles,
that you may ^hbring salvation to the ends of the earth.’”
48 And when the Gentiles heard this, they began rejoicing and ⁱglorifying the word of the Lord, and as many as were appointed to eternal life believed.

Israel’s Unbelief

30 What shall we say, then? ^jThat Gentiles who did not pursue righteousness have attained it, that is, ^ka righteousness that is by faith; 31 but that Israel ^lwho pursued a law that would lead to righteousness ^{▼▼Greek a law of righteousness} ⁿdid not succeed in reaching that law. 32 Why? Because they did not pursue it by faith, but as if it were based on works. They have stumbled over the ^ostumbling stone, 33 as it is written,

^p“Behold, I am laying in Zion ^qa stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense;
^rand whoever believes in him will not be ^sput to shame.”
