left Athens and went to Corinth.
2And he found a Jew named jAquila, a native of Pontus, recently come from Italy with his wife kPriscilla, because lClaudius had commanded all the Jews to leave Rome. And he went to see them, 3and mbecause he was of the same trade he stayed with them and worked, for they were tentmakers by trade. 4And nhe reasoned in the synagogue oevery Sabbath, and tried to persuade Jews and Greeks.

5 pWhen Silas and Timothy arrived from Macedonia, Paul qwas occupied with the word, rtestifying to the Jews that the Christ was sJesus. 6And when they opposed and reviled him, the shook out his garments and said to them, uYour blood be on your own heads! vI am innocent. wFrom now on I will go to the Gentiles.” 7And he left there and went to the house of a man named Titius xJustus, ya worshiper of God. His house was next door to the synagogue. 8 zCrispus, the ruler of the synagogue, believed in the Lord, together aawith his entire household. And many of the Corinthians hearing Paul believed and were baptized. 9And the Lord said to Paul abone night in aca vision, ad“Do not be afraid, but go on speaking and do not be silent, 10 aefor I am with you, and afno one will attack you to harm you, for agI have many in this city who are my people.” 11And he stayed a year and six months, teaching the word of God among them.

made a united attack on Paul and akbrought him before the tribunal,
13saying, “This man is persuading people to worship God contrary to althe law.” 14But when Paul was about to open his mouth, Gallio said to the Jews, “If it were a matter of wrongdoing or vicious amcrime, O Jews, I would have reason to accept your complaint. 15But ansince it is a matter of questions about words and names and aoyour own law, see to it yourselves. I refuse to be a judge of these things.” 16And he drove them from the tribunal. 17And they all seized Sosthenes, the ruler of the synagogue, and beat him in front of the tribunal. But Gallio paid no attention to any of this.

2 Corinthians 10:13-16

13But we will not boast apbeyond limits, but will aqboast only with regard to the area of influence God assigned to us, arto reach even to you. 14For we are not overextending ourselves, as though we did not reach you. asFor we were the first to come all the way to you with the gospel of Christ. 15We do not boast beyond limit in the labors of others. But our hope is that atas your faith increases, our area of influence among you may be augreatly enlarged, 16so that we may preach the gospel in lands beyond you, without boasting of work already done in another’s area of influence.

1 Thessalonians 1:8
