Paul and Silas in Thessalonica

1Now when they had passed through Amphipolis and Apollonia, they came to aThessalonica, where there was a synagogue of the Jews.

Acts 17:5-9

5 bBut the Jews
Greek Ioudaioi probably refers here to Jewish religious leaders, and others under their influence, in that time; also verse 13
dwere jealous, and taking esome wicked men of the rabble, they formed a mob, set the city in an uproar, and attacked the house of Jason, seeking to bring them out to the crowd.
6And when they could not find them, fthey dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city authorities, shouting, “These men who have turned the world upside down have come here also, 7and Jason has received them, and they are all acting against gthe decrees of Caesar, saying that there is hanother king, Jesus.” 8And the people and the city authorities were disturbed when they heard these things. 9And when they had taken money as security from Jason and the rest, they let them go.

Acts 17:13

13But when the Jews from Thessalonica learned that the word of God was proclaimed by Paul at Berea also, they came there too, iagitating and stirring up the crowds.

Encouragement to Give Generously

1We want you to know, brothers,

about the grace of God that has been kgiven among the churches of Macedonia,

2 Thessalonians 1:4-6

4Therefore vwe ourselves boast about you win the churches of God for your steadfastness and faith xin all your persecutions and in the afflictions that you are enduring.
