Peter and John Before the Council

1And as they were speaking to the people, the priests and athe captain of the temple and bthe Sadducees came upon them, 2greatly annoyed because they were teaching the people and proclaiming cin Jesus the resurrection from the dead. 3And they arrested them and dput them in custody until the next day, for it was already evening.

Acts 5:40-41

40and ewhen they had called in the apostles, fthey beat them and charged them not to speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go. 41Then they left the presence of the council, grejoicing that they were counted worthy hto suffer dishonor for ithe name.

Acts 7:51-57

The Stoning of Stephen

54Now when they heard these things rthey were enraged, and they sground their teeth at him. 55But he, tfull of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw uthe glory of God, and Jesus standing vat the right hand of God. 56And he said, “Behold, I see wthe heavens opened, and xthe Son of Man standing yat the right hand of God.” 57But they cried out with a loud voice and stopped their ears and rushed together

Saul Ravages the Church

The Greek word Ioudaioi can refer to Jewish religious leaders and others under their influence, who opposed the Christian faith in that time
