incited the devout jwomen of high standing and the leading men of the city, kstirred up persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and ldrove them out of their district.

They seized Paul and zdragged him out of the temple, and at once the gates were shut. 31 aaAnd as they were seeking to kill him, word came to the tribune of abthe cohort that all Jerusalem was in confusion.
