Amo 1:3-11 | ESV | STEP | Thus says the Lord : For three transgressions of Damascus , and for four , I will not revoke the punishment , because they have threshed Gilead with threshing sledges of iron .

3 Thus says the Lord:

^a“For three transgressions of ^bDamascus,
and for four, ^cI will not revoke the punishment, ^{▼▼Hebrew I will not turn it back; also verses 6, 9, 11, 13}
because they have threshed ^eGilead
with threshing sledges of iron.
4 ^fSo I will send a fire upon the house of ^gHazael,
and it shall devour the strongholds of ^hBen-hadad.
5 I will ⁱbreak the gate-bar of ^jDamascus,
and cut off the inhabitants from the Valley of ^kAven, ^{▼▼Or On}
and him who holds the scepter from ^mBeth-eden;
and the people of ⁿSyria shall go into exile to ^oKir,”

says the Lord.
6 Thus says the Lord:

^p“For three transgressions of ^qGaza,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because ^rthey carried into exile a whole people
to deliver them up to Edom.
7 So I will send a fire upon the wall of ^sGaza,
and it shall devour her strongholds.
8 I will cut off the inhabitants from ^tAshdod,
and him who holds the scepter from Ashkelon;
I will turn my hand against Ekron,
and the remnant of the Philistines shall perish,”

says the Lord God.
9 Thus says the Lord:

^u“For three transgressions of ^vTyre,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because they delivered up a whole people to Edom,
and did not remember the covenant of brotherhood.
10 So I will send a fire upon the wall of ^wTyre,
and it shall devour her strongholds.”
11 Thus says the Lord:

^x“For three transgressions of ^yEdom,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
^zbecause he pursued his brother with the sword
^aaand cast off all pity,
^aband his anger tore perpetually,
^acand he kept his wrath forever.
