Amos 1:3-5

3Thus says the Lord:

a“For three transgressions of bDamascus,
and for four, cI will not revoke the punishment,
Hebrew  I will not turn it back; also verses 6, 9, 11, 13

because they have threshed eGilead
with threshing sledges of iron.
4 fSo I will send a fire upon the house of gHazael,
and it shall devour the strongholds of hBen-hadad.
5I will ibreak the gate-bar of jDamascus,
and cut off the inhabitants from the Valley of kAven,
Or On

and him who holds the scepter from mBeth-eden;
and the people of nSyria shall go into exile to oKir,”

says the Lord.

Judgment on Israel’s Enemies

1 The oracle of the word of the Lord is against the land of Hadrach
and pDamascus is its resting place.
For the Lord has an eye on mankind
and on all the tribes of Israel,
Or For the eye of mankind, especially of all the tribes of Israel, is toward the Lord

Acts 9:2
