Amos 1:3-5

3 Thus says the Lord:

^a“For three transgressions of ^bDamascus,
and for four, ^cI will not revoke the punishment, ^{▼▼Hebrew I will not turn it back; also verses 6, 9, 11, 13}
because they have threshed ^eGilead
with threshing sledges of iron.
4 ^fSo I will send a fire upon the house of ^gHazael,
and it shall devour the strongholds of ^hBen-hadad.
5 I will ⁱbreak the gate-bar of ^jDamascus,
and cut off the inhabitants from the Valley of ^kAven, ^{▼▼Or On}
and him who holds the scepter from ^mBeth-eden;
and the people of ⁿSyria shall go into exile to ^oKir,”

1 The oracle of the word of the Lord is against the land of Hadrach
