Amos 2:11-12

11And I raised up some of your sons for prophets,
and some of your young men for aNazirites.
Is it not indeed so, O people of Israel?”

declares the Lord.
12 “But you made the Nazirites bdrink wine,
and commanded the prophets,
saying, c‘You shall not prophesy.’

Edom Will Be Humbled

Thus says the Lord God dconcerning Edom:
eWe have heard a report from the Lord,
and a messenger has been sent among the nations:
Rise up! Let us rise against her for battle!”
2Behold, I will make you small among the nations;
you shall be utterly despised.
Or  Behold, I have made you small among the nations; you are utterly despised

3 gThe pride of your heart has deceived you,
you who live in the clefts of the rock,
Or Sela

in your lofty dwelling,
iwho say in your heart,
Who will bring me down to the ground?”
4Though you soar aloft like the eagle,
though your nest is set among the stars,
from there I will bring you down,

declares the Lord.
5 If jthieves came to you,
if plunderers came by night
how you have been destroyed!—
would they not steal only enough for themselves?
If kgrape gatherers came to you,
would they not leave gleanings?
6 lHow Esau has been pillaged,
his treasures sought out!
7All your allies have driven you to your border;
those at peace with you have deceived you;
they have prevailed against you;
mthose who eat your bread
Hebrew lacks  those who eat
have set a trap beneath you—
oyou have
Hebrew he has
no understanding.
8 qWill I not on that day, declares the Lord,
destroy the wise men out of Edom,
and understanding out of rMount Esau?
9And your mighty men shall be dismayed, sO Teman,
so that every man from tMount Esau will be cut off by slaughter.
