Amos 2:14-16

14 aFlight shall perish from the swift,
band the strong shall not retain his strength,
cnor shall the mighty save his life;
15he who handles the bow shall not stand,
and he who is dswift of foot shall not save himself,
enor shall he who rides the horse save his life;
16and he who is stout of heart among the mighty
shall flee away naked in that day,”

declares the Lord.

Amos 9:1-4

The Destruction of Israel

1I saw the Lord standing beside
Or on
the altar, and he said:

gStrike the capitals until hthe thresholds ishake,
jand shatter them on the heads of all the people;
Hebrew  all of them

and those who are left of them I will kill with the sword;
lnot one of them shall flee away;
not one of them shall escape.
2 mIf they dig into Sheol,
from there shall my hand take them;
nif they climb up to heaven,
from there I will bring them down.
3If they hide themselves on othe top of Carmel,
from there I will search them out and take them;
pand if they hide from my sight at the bottom of the sea,
there I will command the serpent, and it shall bite them.
4 qAnd if they go into captivity before their enemies,
there I will command the sword, and it shall kill them;
rand I will fix my eyes upon them
for evil and not for good.”

Zephaniah 1:17-18

17 sI will bring distress on mankind,
so that they shall walk tlike the blind,
because they have sinned against the Lord;
utheir blood shall be poured out like dust,
and their flesh vlike dung.
18 wNeither their silver nor their gold
shall be able to deliver them
on the day of the wrath of the Lord.
xIn the fire of his jealousy,
yall the earth shall be consumed;
zfor a full and sudden end
he will make of all the inhabitants of the earth.
