Amos 5:11-12

11Therefore because you atrample on
Or  you tax
the poor
and you exact taxes of grain from him,
cyou have built houses of hewn stone,
but you shall not dwell in them;
dyou have planted pleasant vineyards,
but you shall not drink their wine.
12For I know how many are your transgressions
and how great are your sins
you who afflict the righteous, who etake a bribe,
and fturn aside the needy gin the gate.

Amos 8:4-7

4 Hear this, hyou who trample on the needy
and bring the poor of the land to an end,
5saying, “When will ithe new moon be over,
that we may sell grain?
And jthe Sabbath,
that we may offer wheat for sale,
that we may make kthe ephah small and the shekel
An  ephah was about 3/5 bushel or 22 liters; a  shekel was about 2/5 ounce or 11 grams
great
and deal deceitfully with false balances,
6that we may buy the poor for msilver
and the needy for a pair of sandals
and sell the chaff of the wheat?”
7 The Lord has sworn by nthe pride of Jacob:
“Surely oI will never forget any of their deeds.

Micah 2:2-3

2They covet fields and pseize them,
and houses, and take them away;
they oppress a man and his house,
a man and his inheritance.
3Therefore thus says the Lord:
behold, against qthis family I am devising disaster,
The same Hebrew word can mean evil or  disaster, depending on the context

from which you cannot remove your necks,
and you sshall not walk haughtily,
tfor it will be a time of disaster.

Micah 6:10-12

10Can I forget any longer the treasures
Or Are there still treasures
of wickedness in the house of the wicked,
and the scant measure that is accursed?
11Shall I acquit the man vwith wicked scales
and with a bag of deceitful weights?
12Your
Hebrew whose
rich men are xfull of violence;
your inhabitants yspeak lies,
and ztheir tongue is deceitful in their mouth.

Micah 7:3

3 aaTheir hands are on what is evil, to do it well;
abthe prince and acthe judge ask for a bribe,
and the great man utters the evil desire of his soul;
thus they weave it together.

Luke 3:14
