Amos 8:14

14Those who swear by athe Guilt of Samaria,
and say, ‘As your god lives, O Dan,’
and, ‘As bthe Way of cBeersheba lives,’
they shall fall, and never rise again.”

Amos 9:1-10

The Destruction of Israel

1I saw the Lord standing beside
Or on
the altar, and he said:

eStrike the capitals until fthe thresholds gshake,
hand shatter them on the heads of all the people;
Hebrew  all of them

and those who are left of them I will kill with the sword;
jnot one of them shall flee away;
not one of them shall escape.
2 kIf they dig into Sheol,
from there shall my hand take them;
lif they climb up to heaven,
from there I will bring them down.
3If they hide themselves on mthe top of Carmel,
from there I will search them out and take them;
nand if they hide from my sight at the bottom of the sea,
there I will command the serpent, and it shall bite them.
4 oAnd if they go into captivity before their enemies,
there I will command the sword, and it shall kill them;
pand I will fix my eyes upon them
for evil and not for good.”
5 The Lord God of hosts,
he who touches the earth and qit melts,
and all who dwell in it mourn,
rand all of it rises like the Nile,
sand sinks again, like the Nile of Egypt;
6 twho builds his upper chambers in the heavens
and founds his vault upon the earth;
uwho calls for the waters of the sea
and pours them out upon the surface of the earth
vthe Lord is his name.
7 “Are you not like wthe Cushites to me,
O people of Israel?” declares the Lord.
x“Did I not bring up Israel from the land of Egypt,
and ythe Philistines from zCaphtor and the Syrians from aaKir?
8Behold, abthe eyes of the Lord God are upon the sinful kingdom,
and I will destroy it from the surface of the ground,
acexcept that I will not utterly destroy the house of Jacob,”

declares the Lord.
9 For behold, I will command,
adand shake the house of Israel among all the nations
as one shakes with a sieve,
but no pebble shall fall to the earth.
10All the sinners of my people shall die by the sword,
who say, aeDisaster shall not overtake or meet us.’

Micah 1:4-9

4And afthe mountains will melt under him,
and the valleys will split open,
like wax before the fire,
like waters poured down a steep place.
5All this is for agthe transgression of Jacob
and for the sins of the house of Israel.
ahWhat is the transgression of Jacob?
Is it not aiSamaria?
And what is ajthe high place of Judah?
Is it not Jerusalem?
6Therefore I will make akSamaria ala heap in the open country,
a place for planting vineyards,
and I will pour down her stones aminto the valley
and anuncover her foundations.
7All aoher carved images shall be beaten to pieces,
apall her wages shall be burned with fire,
and all her idols I will lay waste,
for from aqthe fee of a prostitute she gathered them,
and to the fee of a prostitute they shall return.
8 arFor this I will lament and wail;
I will go asstripped and naked;
I will make lamentation atlike the jackals,
and mourning aulike the ostriches.
9 avFor her wound is incurable,
and it has come to Judah;
it has reached to the gate of my people,
to Jerusalem.
