Daniel 11:36-45

36“And the king shall ado as he wills. bHe shall exalt himself and magnify himself above every god, cand shall speak astonishing things against dthe God of gods. eHe shall prosper ftill the indignation is accomplished; for what is decreed shall be done. 37He shall pay no attention to the gods of his fathers, or to the one beloved by women. He shall not pay attention to any other god, for ghe shall magnify himself above all. 38He shall honor the god of fortresses instead of these. A god whom his fathers did not know he shall honor hwith gold and silver, with precious stones and costly gifts. 39He shall deal with the strongest fortresses with the help of a foreign god. Those who acknowledge him he shall load with honor. He shall make them rulers over many and ishall divide the land for a price.

40 k“At the time of the end, the king of the south shall attack

him, but the king of the north shall rush upon him mlike a whirlwind, with chariots and horsemen, and with many ships. And he shall come into countries and nshall overflow and pass through.
41He shall come into othe glorious land. And tens of thousands shall fall, but these shall be delivered out of his hand: pEdom and qMoab and the main part of the rAmmonites. 42He shall stretch out his hand against the countries, and the land of Egypt shall not escape. 43He shall become ruler of the treasures of gold and of silver, and all the precious things of Egypt, and the sLibyans and the tCushites shall follow in his train. 44But news from the east and the north shall alarm him, and he shall go out with great fury to destroy and devote many to destruction. 45And he shall pitch his palatial tents between the sea and the glorious holy mountain. Yet he shall come to his end, with none to help him.

Revelation of John 16

The Seven Bowls of God’s Wrath

1Then I heard a loud voice from the temple telling uthe seven angels, “Go and vpour out on the earth wthe seven bowls of the wrath of God.”

2So the first angel went and poured out his bowl on the earth, and harmful and painful xsores came upon the people who bore ythe mark of the beast and worshiped its image.

3The second angel poured out his bowl into the sea, and zit became like the blood of a corpse, and aaevery living thing died that was in the sea.

4The third angel poured out his bowl into abthe rivers and the springs of water, and acthey became blood. 5And I heard the angel in charge of the waters
Greek  angel of the waters
say,

aeJust are you, afO Holy One, agwho is and who was,
for you brought these judgments.
6For ahthey have shed the blood of aisaints and prophets,
and ajyou have given them blood to drink.
It is what they deserve!”
7And I heard akthe altar saying,

Yes, Lord God the Almighty,
altrue and just are your judgments!”
8The fourth angel poured out his bowl on the sun, and it was allowed to scorch people amwith fire. 9They were scorched by the fierce heat, and anthey cursed
Greek blasphemed; also verses 11, 21
the name of God who had power over these plagues. apThey did not repent aqand give him glory.

10The fifth angel poured out his bowl on arthe throne of the beast, and asits kingdom was plunged into darkness. People gnawed their tongues in anguish 11and cursed atthe God of heaven for their pain and ausores. avThey did not repent of their deeds.

12The sixth angel poured out his bowl on awthe great river Euphrates, and axits water was dried up, ayto prepare the way for the kings azfrom the east. 13And I saw, coming out of the mouth of bathe dragon and out of the mouth of bbthe beast and out of the mouth of bcthe false prophet, three bdunclean spirits like befrogs. 14For they are bfdemonic spirits, bgperforming signs, who go abroad to the kings of the whole world, bhto assemble them for battle on bithe great day of God the Almighty. 15(“Behold, bjI am coming like a thief! bkBlessed is the one who stays awake, keeping his garments on, blthat he may not go about naked and be seen exposed!”) 16And bmthey assembled them at the place that in Hebrew is called bnArmageddon.

The Seventh Bowl

17The seventh angel poured out his bowl into bothe air, and a loud voice came out of the temple, from the throne, saying, bp“It is done!” 18And there were bqflashes of lightning, rumblings,
Or voices, or sounds
peals of thunder, and bsa great earthquake btsuch as there had never been since man was on the earth, so great was that earthquake.
19 buThe great city bvwas split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and God bwremembered bxBabylon the great, byto make her drain the cup of the wine of the fury of his wrath. 20And bzevery island fled away, and no mountains were to be found. 21And cagreat hailstones, about one hundred pounds
Greek a talent in weight
each, fell from heaven on people; and ccthey cursed God for cdthe plague of the hail, because the plague was so severe.

Revelation of John 17

The Great Prostitute and the Beast

1Then ceone of the seven angels who had cfthe seven bowls came and said to me, “Come, I will show you the judgment of cgthe great prostitute chwho is seated on many waters, 2 ciwith whom the kings of the earth have committed sexual immorality, and cjwith the wine of whose sexual immorality ckthe dwellers on earth have become drunk.” 3And clhe carried me away in the Spirit cminto a wilderness, and I saw a woman sitting on cna scarlet beast that was full of coblasphemous names, and cpit had seven heads and ten horns. 4The woman cqwas arrayed in purple and scarlet, and adorned crwith gold and jewels and pearls, holding in her hand csa golden cup full of abominations and the impurities of her sexual immorality. 5And on her forehead was written a name of ctmystery: cuBabylon the great, mother of prostitutes and of earth’s abominations.” 6And I saw the woman, drunk cvwith the blood of the saints, the blood of cwthe martyrs of Jesus.
Greek  the witnesses to Jesus

When I saw her, I marveled greatly.
7But the angel said to me, “Why do you marvel? I will tell you cythe mystery of the woman, and of the beast with seven heads and ten horns that carries her. 8The beast that you saw czwas, and is not, and dais about to rise from dbthe bottomless pit
Greek  the abyss
and ddgo to destruction. And dethe dwellers on earth whose names have not been written in dfthe book of life from the foundation of the world will marvel to see the beast, because dgit was and is not and is to come.
9 dhThis calls for a mind with wisdom: the seven heads are seven mountains on which the woman is seated; 10they are also seven kings, five of whom have fallen, one is, the other has not yet come, and when he does come he must remain only a little while. 11As for the beast dithat was and is not, it is an eighth but it belongs to the seven, and it goes to destruction. 12And djthe ten horns that you saw are ten kings who have not yet received royal power, but they are to receive authority as kings dkfor one hour, together with the beast. 13These are of one mind, and they hand over their power and authority to the beast. 14They dlwill make war on the Lamb, and dmthe Lamb will conquer them, for he is dnLord of lords and doKing of kings, and those with him are dpcalled and chosen and faithful.”

15And the angel
Greek he
said to me, dr“The waters that you saw, where the prostitute is seated, are peoples and multitudes and nations and languages.
16And dsthe ten horns that you saw, they and the beast dtwill hate the prostitute. They will make her dudesolate and dvnaked, and dwdevour her flesh and dxburn her up with fire, 17for dyGod has put it into their hearts to carry out his purpose by being of one mind and dzhanding over their royal power to the beast, until the words of God are fulfilled. 18And the woman that you saw is eathe great city that has dominion over the kings of the earth.”

Revelation of John 18

The Fall of Babylon

1After this I saw ebanother angel coming down from heaven, having great authority, and ecthe earth was made bright with his glory. 2And he called out with a mighty voice,

edFallen, fallen is Babylon the great!
She has become eea dwelling place for demons,
a haunt effor every unclean spirit,
a haunt egfor every unclean bird,
a haunt for every unclean and detestable beast.
3For all nations have drunk
Some manuscripts fallen by

eithe wine of the passion of her sexual immorality,
and ejthe kings of the earth have committed immorality with her,
and ekthe merchants of the earth have grown rich from the power of her luxurious living.”
4Then I heard another voice from heaven saying,

elCome out of her, my people,
lest you take part in her sins,
lest you share in her plagues;
5for emher sins are heaped high as heaven,
and enGod has remembered her iniquities.
6 eoPay her back as she herself has paid back others,
and repay her epdouble for her deeds;
mix a double portion for her eqin the cup she mixed.
7 erAs she glorified herself and lived in luxury,
so give her a like measure of torment and mourning,
since in her heart she says,
es‘I sit as a queen,
I am no widow,
and mourning I shall never see.’
8For this reason her plagues will come etin a single day,
death and mourning and famine,
and eushe will be burned up with fire;
for evmighty is the Lord God who has judged her.”
9And ewthe kings of the earth, who committed sexual immorality and lived in luxury with her, exwill weep and wail over her eywhen they see the smoke of her burning. 10 ezThey will stand far off, in fear of her torment, and say,

Alas! Alas! faYou great city,
you mighty city, Babylon!
For fbin a single hour your judgment has come.”
11And fcthe merchants of the earth weep and mourn for her, since no one buys their cargo anymore, 12cargo of gold, silver, jewels, pearls, fine linen, purple cloth, silk, scarlet cloth, all kinds of scented wood, all kinds of articles of ivory, all kinds of articles of costly wood, bronze, iron and marble, 13cinnamon, spice, incense, myrrh, frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle and sheep, horses and chariots, and slaves, that is, human souls.
Or  and slaves, and human lives

14 “The fruit for which your soul longed
has gone from you,
and all your delicacies and your splendors
are lost to you,
never to be found again!”
15 feThe merchants of these wares, who gained wealth from her, ffwill stand far off, in fear of her torment, weeping and mourning aloud,

16 Alas, alas, for the great city
fgthat was clothed in fine linen,
in purple and scarlet,
adorned with gold,
with jewels, and with pearls!
17For fhin a single hour all this wealth fihas been laid waste.”
And fjall shipmasters and seafaring men, sailors and all whose trade is on the sea, stood far off
18and fkcried out flas they saw the smoke of her burning,

fmWhat city was like the great city?”
19And they threw fndust on their heads as they wept and mourned, crying out,

Alas, alas, for the great city
fowhere all who had ships at sea
grew rich by her wealth!
For fpin a single hour she has been laid waste.
20 fqRejoice over her, O heaven,
and you saints and frapostles and prophets,
for fsGod has given judgment for you against her!”
21Then fta mighty angel futook up a stone like a great millstone and threw it into the sea, saying,

So will Babylon fvthe great city be thrown down with violence,
and will be found no more;
22and fwthe sound of harpists and musicians, of flute players and trumpeters,
will be heard in you no more,
and a craftsman of any craft
will be found in you no more,
and fxthe sound of the mill
will be heard in you no more,
23and the light of a lamp
will shine in you no more,
and fythe voice of bridegroom and bride
will be heard in you no more,
for fzyour merchants were the great ones of the earth,
and all nations were deceived gaby your sorcery.
24And gbin her was found the blood of prophets and of saints,
and of gcall who have been slain on earth.”

Revelation of John 19

Rejoicing in Heaven

1After this I heard gdwhat seemed to be the loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, crying out,

Hallelujah!
geSalvation and glory and power belong to our God,
2for gfhis judgments are true and just;
for he has judged ggthe great prostitute
who corrupted the earth with her immorality,
and ghhas avenged on her the blood of his servants.”
Greek bondservants; also verse 5

3Once more they cried out,

Hallelujah!
gjThe smoke from her goes up forever and ever.”
4And gkthe twenty-four elders and the four living creatures fell down and worshiped God who was seated on the throne, saying, “Amen. Hallelujah!” 5And from the throne came a voice saying,

glPraise our God,
all you his servants,
gmyou who fear him,
small and great.”

The Marriage Supper of the Lamb

6Then I heard what seemed to be gnthe voice of a great multitude, like gothe roar of many waters and gplike the sound of mighty peals of thunder, crying out,

Hallelujah!
For the Lord our God
the Almighty gqreigns.
7Let us rejoice and exult
and give him the glory,
for grthe marriage of the Lamb has come,
and gshis Bride has made herself ready;
8 gtit was granted her to clothe herself
with fine linen, bright and pure”—
for the fine linen is guthe righteous deeds of the saints.

9And the angel said
Greek he said
to me, “Write this: gwBlessed are those who are invited to the marriage supper of the Lamb.” And he said to me, gxThese are the true words of God.”
10Then gyI fell down at his feet to worship him, gzbut he said to me, “You must not do that! I am a fellow servant
Greek  fellow bondservant
with you and your brothers who hold to hbthe testimony of Jesus. Worship God.” For the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

The Rider on a White Horse

11Then I saw hcheaven opened, and behold, hda white horse! The one sitting on it is called heFaithful and True, and hfin righteousness he judges and makes war. 12 hgHis eyes are like a flame of fire, and on his head are hhmany diadems, and he has hia name written that no one knows but himself. 13He is clothed in hja robe dipped in
Some manuscripts sprinkled with
blood, and the name by which he is called is hlThe Word of God.
14And the armies of heaven, hmarrayed in fine linen, white and pure, hnwere following him on white horses. 15 hoFrom his mouth comes a sharp sword hpwith which to strike down the nations, and hqhe will rule them with a rod of iron. hrHe will tread the winepress of the fury of the wrath of God the Almighty. 16On his robe and on his thigh hshe has a name written, htKing of kings and Lord of lords.

17Then I saw an angel standing in the sun, and with a loud voice he called to huall the birds that fly directly overhead, hvCome, gather for hwthe great supper of God, 18 hxto eat the flesh of kings, the flesh of captains, the flesh of mighty men, the flesh of horses and their riders, and the flesh of all men, both free and slave,
Greek bondservant
both small and great.”
19And I saw hzthe beast and the kings of the earth with their armies iagathered to make war against him who was sitting on the horse and against his army. 20And the beast was captured, and with it ibthe false prophet icwho in its presence
Or on its behalf
had done the signs by which he deceived those who had received the mark of the beast and those who ieworshiped its image. These two were ifthrown alive into the lake of igfire that burns with sulfur.
21And the rest were slain by the sword ihthat came from the mouth of him who was sitting on the horse, and iiall the birds were gorged with their flesh.
