Daniel 2:34-35

34As you looked, a stone was cut out aby no human hand, and it struck the image on its feet of iron and clay, and bbroke them in pieces. 35Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver, and the gold, all together were broken in pieces, and became clike the chaff of the summer threshing floors; and the wind carried them away, so that dnot a trace of them could be found. But the stone that struck the image became ea great mountain fand filled the whole earth.

Daniel 9

Daniel’s Prayer for His People

1 kIn the first year of lDarius the son of Ahasuerus, by descent a mMede, who was made king over the realm of the nChaldeans 2in the first year of his reign, I, Daniel, perceived in the books the number of years that, according to othe word of the Lord to Jeremiah the prophet, must pass before the end of the desolations of Jerusalem, namely, seventy years.

3Then I turned my face to the Lord God, seeking him by pprayer and pleas for mercy with fasting and sackcloth and ashes. 4I prayed to the Lord my God and qmade confession, saying, rO Lord, the sgreat and awesome God, who tkeeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, 5 uwe have sinned and done wrong and acted wickedly vand rebelled, turning aside from your commandments and rules. 6 wWe have not listened to xyour servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to your kings, our princes, and our fathers, and to all the people of the land. 7To you, zO Lord, belongs righteousness, but to us open shame, as at this day, to the men of Judah, to the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and to all Israel, aathose who are near and abthose who are far away, in acall the lands to which you have driven them, because of adthe treachery that they have committed against you. 8To us, O Lord, belongs open shame, to our kings, to our princes, and to our fathers, because aewe have sinned against you. 9 afTo the Lord our God belong mercy and forgiveness, for we have rebelled against him 10 agand have not obeyed the voice of the Lord our God by walking in his laws, which he set before us by ahhis servants the prophets. 11 aiAll Israel has transgressed your law and turned aside, ajrefusing to obey your voice. akAnd the curse and oath althat are written in the Law of amMoses the servant of God have been poured out upon us, because anwe have sinned against him. 12He has confirmed his words, which he spoke against us and against aoour rulers who ruled us,
Or  our judges who judged us
by aqbringing upon us a great calamity. arFor under the whole heaven there has not been done anything like what has been done against Jerusalem.
13 asAs it is written in the Law of Moses, all this calamity has come upon us; yet we have not entreated the favor of the Lord our God, atturning from our iniquities and gaining insight by your truth. 14 auTherefore the Lord has kept ready the calamity and has brought it upon us, avfor the Lord our God is righteous in all the works that he has done, and awwe have not obeyed his voice. 15And now, O Lord our God, who brought your people out of the land of Egypt axwith a mighty hand, and ayhave made a name for yourself, as at this day, azwe have sinned, we have done wickedly.

16“O Lord, baaccording to all your righteous acts, let your anger and your wrath turn away from your city Jerusalem, bbyour holy hill, bcbecause for our sins, and for bdthe iniquities of our fathers, beJerusalem and your people have become bfa byword among all who are around us. 17Now therefore, O our God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his pleas for mercy, and for your own sake, O Lord,
Hebrew  for the Lord’s sake
bhmake your face to shine upon biyour sanctuary, which is desolate.
18 bjO my God, incline your ear and hear. Open your eyes and see bkour desolations, and blthe city that is called by your name. For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy. 19O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive. O Lord, pay attention and act. bmDelay not, bnfor your own sake, O my God, because boyour city and bpyour people are called by your name.”

Gabriel Brings an Answer

20 bqWhile I was speaking and praying, confessing my sin and the sin of my people Israel, and presenting my plea before the Lord my God for brthe holy hill of my God, 21while I was speaking in prayer, the man bsGabriel, whom I had seen in the vision at the first, btcame to me in swift flight at buthe time of the evening sacrifice. 22 bvHe made me understand, speaking with me and saying, “O Daniel, I have now come out to give you bwinsight and understanding. 23 bxAt the beginning of your pleas for mercy a word went out, byand I have come to tell it to you, for bzyou are greatly loved. Therefore consider the word caand understand the vision.

Daniel 12:7

7And I heard czthe man clothed in linen, who was above the waters of the stream; dahe raised his right hand and his left hand toward heaven and dbswore by him who lives forever that it would be for a dctime, times, and half a time, and that when the shattering of ddthe power of dethe holy people comes to an end all these things would be finished.
