had taken out of the temple in Jerusalem be brought, that the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines might drink from them.
3Then they brought in dthe golden vessels that had been taken out of the temple, the house of God in Jerusalem, and the king and his lords, his wives, and his concubines drank from them. 4They drank wine and epraised the fgods of gold and silver, bronze, iron, wood, and stone.

Hosea 4:11-12

11whoredom, wine, and new wine,
which gtake away the understanding.
12My people hinquire of a piece of wood,
and their walking staff gives them oracles.
For ia spirit of whoredom has led them astray,
and they have left their God to play the whore.

Hosea 7:3-5

3By their evil jthey make kthe king glad,
and the princes by their treachery.
4 lThey are all adulterers;
they are like a heated oven
whose baker ceases to stir the fire,
from the kneading of the dough
until it is leavened.
5On the day of mour king, the princes
became sick with the heat of wine;
he stretched out his hand with mockers.

Habakkuk 2:5

5 Moreover, wine

The meaning of the Hebrew of these two lines is uncertain

His greed is as wide as Sheol;
like death qhe has never enough.
rHe gathers for himself all nations
and collects as his own all peoples.”

Mark 6:21-28

21But an opportunity came when Herod son his birthday tgave a banquet for his nobles and military commanders and the leading men of Galilee. 22For when Herodias’s daughter came in and danced, she pleased Herod and his guests. And the king said to the girl, “Ask me for whatever you wish, and I will give it to you.” 23And he vowed to her, “Whatever you ask me, I will give you, uup to half of my kingdom.” 24And she went out and said to her mother, “For what should I ask?” And she said, “The head of John the Baptist.” 25And she came in immediately with haste to the king and asked, saying, “I want you to give me at once the head of John the Baptist on a platter.” 26And the king was exceedingly sorry, but because of his oaths and his guests he did not want to break his word to her. 27And immediately the king sent an executioner with orders to bring John’s
