Deuteronomy 1:31

31and in the wilderness, where you have seen how the Lord your God acarried you, as a man carries his son, all the way that you went until you came to this place.’

Deuteronomy 4:7-8

7For bwhat great nation is there that has ca god so near to it as the Lord our God is to us, whenever we call upon him? 8And what great nation is there, that has statutes and rules so drighteous as all this law that I set before you today?

Isaiah 5:1-2

The Vineyard of the Lord Destroyed

1 Let me sing for my beloved
my love song concerning his vineyard:
My beloved had ea vineyard
on a very fertile hill.
2He dug it and cleared it of stones,
and planted it with fchoice vines;
he built a watchtower in the midst of it,
and hewed out a wine vat in it;
and ghe looked for it to yield grapes,
but it yielded wild grapes.

Isaiah 46:3-4

3 Listen to me, O house of Jacob,
all the remnant of the house of Israel,
hwho have been borne by me from before your birth,
carried from the womb;
4 ieven to your old age I am he,
and to gray hairs I will carry you.
I have made, and I will bear;
I will carry and will save.

Jeremiah 31:9

9 jWith weeping they shall come,
kand with pleas for mercy I will lead them back,
I will make them lwalk by brooks of water,
min a straight path in which they shall not stumble,
for nI am a father to Israel,
and Ephraim is omy firstborn.

Ezekiel 16:6-14

6“And when I passed by you and saw you wallowing pin your blood, I said to you qin your blood, ‘Live!’ I said to you rin your blood, ‘Live!’ 7 sI made you flourish like a plant of the field. And you grew up and became tall tand arrived at full adornment. Your breasts were formed, and your hair had grown; yet uyou were naked and bare.

8“When I passed by you again and saw you, behold, you were at the age for love, and vI spread the corner of my garment over you and covered your nakedness; I made my vow to you wand entered into a covenant with you, declares the Lord God, xand you became mine. 9Then I bathed you with water and washed off your blood from you and yanointed you with oil. 10 zI clothed you also with embroidered cloth and shod you with fine leather. I wrapped you in fine linen and covered you with silk.
Or with rich fabric
11 abAnd I adorned you with ornaments and acput bracelets on your wrists and a chain on your neck. 12And I put a ring on your nose and earrings in your ears and a beautiful crown on your head. 13Thus you were adorned with gold and silver, and your clothing was of fine linen and silk and embroidered cloth. adYou ate fine flour and honey and oil. aeYou grew exceedingly beautiful and advanced to royalty. 14And afyour renown went forth among the nations because of your beauty, for it was perfect through the splendor that I had bestowed on you, declares the Lord God.

Ezekiel 20:5-32

5and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: agOn the day when I chose Israel, ahI swore
Hebrew  I lifted my hand; twice in this verse; also verses 6, 15, 23, 28, 42
to the offspring of the house of Jacob, ajmaking myself known to them in the land of Egypt; akI swore to them, saying, I am the Lord your God.
6On that day I swore to them that alI would bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had searched out for them, a land amflowing with milk and honey, anthe most glorious of all lands. 7And I said to them, ' aoCast away the detestable things apyour eyes feast on, every one of you, and do not defile yourselves with aqthe idols of Egypt; arI am the Lord your God.' 8 asBut they rebelled against me and were not willing to listen to me. atNone of them cast away the detestable things their eyes feasted on, nor did they forsake the idols of Egypt.

“Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them auand spend my anger against them in the midst of the land of Egypt.
9 avBut I acted awfor the sake of my name, axthat it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations among whom they lived, ayin whose sight I made myself known to them in bringing them out of the land of Egypt. 10 azSo I led them out of the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness. 11 baI gave them my statutes and made known to them my rules, bbby which, if a person does them, he shall live. 12Moreover, I gave them bcmy Sabbaths, as a sign between me and them, bdthat they might know that I am the Lord who sanctifies them. 13 beBut the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. bfThey did not walk in my statutes but rejected my rules, by which, if a person does them, he shall live; bgand my Sabbaths they greatly profaned.

bh“Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them in the wilderness, to make a full end of them.
14But I acted for the sake of my name, that it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, biin whose sight I had brought them out. 15Moreover, bjI swore to them in the wilderness bkthat I would not bring them into the land that I had given them, a land blflowing with milk and honey, bmthe most glorious of all lands, 16because they rejected my rules and did not walk in my statutes, and profaned my Sabbaths; bnfor their heart went after their idols. 17Nevertheless, bomy eye spared them, and I did not destroy them or bpmake a full end of them in the wilderness.

18“And I said to bqtheir children in the wilderness, 'Do not walk brin the statutes of your fathers, nor keep their rules, bsnor defile yourselves with their idols. 19 btI am the Lord your God; buwalk in my statutes, and be careful to obey my rules, 20and bvkeep my Sabbaths holy that bwthey may be a sign between me and you, that you may know that I am the Lord your God.' 21 bxBut the children byrebelled against me. bzThey did not walk in my statutes and were not careful to obey my rules, by which, if a person does them, he shall live; they profaned my Sabbaths.

ca“Then I said I would pour out my wrath upon them and spend my anger against them in the wilderness.
22 cbBut I withheld my hand ccand acted for the sake of my name, cdthat it should not be profaned in the sight of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them out. 23 ceMoreover, cfI swore to them in the wilderness cgthat I would scatter them among the nations and disperse them through the countries, 24because they had not obeyed my rules, but had rejected my statutes and profaned my Sabbaths, chand their eyes were set on their fathersidols. 25 ciMoreover, I gave them statutes that were not good and rules by which they could not have life, 26and I defiled them through cjtheir very gifts ckin their offering up all their firstborn, that I might devastate them. I did it clthat they might know that I am the Lord.

27Therefore, cmson of man, speak to the house of Israel and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: In this also your fathers blasphemed me, by cndealing treacherously with me. 28For when I had brought them into the land that coI swore to give them, then wherever they saw cpany high hill or any leafy tree, there they offered their sacrifices and there they presented cqthe provocation of their offering; there they sent up their pleasing aromas, and there they poured out their drink offerings. 29(I said to them, cr'What is the high place to which you go?' So its name is called Bamah
 Bamah means high place
to this day.)

30Therefore say to the house of Israel, Thus says the Lord God: ctWill you defile yourselves after the manner of your fathers and go cuwhoring after their detestable things? 31When you present your gifts and cvoffer up your children in fire,
Hebrew  and make your children pass through the fire
you defile yourselves with all your idols to this day. And cxshall I be inquired of by you, O house of Israel? cyAs I live, declares the Lord God, I will not be inquired of by you.

32 cz“What is in your mind shall never happen—the thought, da‘Let us be like the nations, like the tribes of the countries, dband worship wood and stone.’
