The Penalty for Israel’s Rebellion

34“And the Lord heard your words and was angered, and he swore, 35 aNot one of these men of this evil generation shall see the good land that I swore to give to your fathers,

Ezra 9:13-14

13And after all that has come upon us for our evil deeds and for bour great guilt, seeing that you, our cGod, have punished us less than our iniquities deserved and have given us such a dremnant as this, 14shall we break your commandments again and eintermarry with the peoples who practice these abominations? Would you not be angry with us funtil you consumed us, so that there should be no gremnant, nor any to escape?

Ezra 10:10

10And Ezra the priest stood up and said to them, “You have broken faith and married foreign women, and so increased the guilt of Israel.

Nehemiah 13:18

18 hDid not your fathers act in this way, and did not our God bring all this disaster
The Hebrew word can mean evil, harm, or  disaster, depending on the context
on us and on this city? Now you are bringing more wrath on Israel by profaning the Sabbath.”

Isaiah 65:6-7

6Behold, jit is written before me:
k“I will not keep silent, but I will repay;
lI will indeed repay into their lap
7both your iniquities mand your fathersiniquities together,

says the Lord;
nbecause they made offerings on the mountains
oand insulted me on the hills,
I will measure into their lap
payment for their former deeds.”
Or  I will first measure their payment into their lap
