1 Kings 18:41-45

The Lord Sends Rain

41And Elijah said to Ahab, “Go up, eat and drink, for there is a sound of the rushing of rain.” 42So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Mount Carmel. dAnd he bowed himself down on the earth and put his face between his knees. 43And he said to his servant, “Go up now, look toward the sea.” And he went up and looked and said, “There is nothing.” And he said, “Go again,” seven times. 44And at the seventh time he said, “Behold, ea little cloud like a man’s hand is rising from the sea.” And he said, “Go up, say to Ahab, ‘Prepare your chariot and go down, lest the rain stop you.’” 45And in a little while the heavens grew black with clouds and wind, and there was a great rain. And Ahab rode and went to fJezreel.

Jeremiah 5:24-25

24They do not say in their hearts,
‘Let us fear the Lord our God,
gwho gives the rain in its season,
the autumn rain and the spring rain,
and keeps for us
hthe weeks appointed for the harvest.’
25 iYour iniquities have turned these away,
and your sins have kept good from you.

Jeremiah 14:22

22Are there any among jthe false gods of the nations kthat can bring rain?
Or can the heavens give showers?
Are you not he, O Lord our God?
We set our hope on you,
lfor you do all these things.

Hosea 6:3

3 mLet us know; nlet us press on to know the Lord;
ohis going out is sure as the dawn;
he will come to us pas the showers,
qas the spring rains that water the earth.”

Joel 2:23

23 r“Be glad, O children of Zion,
and srejoice in the Lord your God,
for he has given tthe early rain for your vindication;
he has poured down for you abundant rain,
uthe early and vthe latter rain, as before.
