Deuteronomy 12:1-5
The Lord’s Chosen Place of Worship
1 a“These are the statutes and rules that you shall be careful to do in the land that the Lord, the God of your fathers, has given you to possess, ball the days that you live on the earth. 2 cYou shall surely destroy all the places where the nations whom you shall dispossess served their gods, don the high mountains and on the hills and under every green tree. 3You shall tear down their altars and dash in pieces etheir pillars and burn their fAsherim with fire. You shall chop down the carved images of their gods and gdestroy their name out of that place. 4 hYou shall not worship the Lord your God in that way. 5But you shall seek ithe place that the Lord your God will choose out of all your tribes to put his name and make his habitation ▼▼Or name as its habitation

28For when I had brought them into the land that kI swore to give them, then wherever they saw lany high hill or any leafy tree, there they offered their sacrifices and there they presented mthe provocation of their offering; there they sent up their pleasing aromas, and there they poured out their drink offerings.
