Deuteronomy 13:1-4

1If a prophet or aa dreamer of dreams arises among you and gives you a sign or a wonder, 2and bthe sign or wonder that he tells you comes to pass, and if he says, ‘Let us go after other gods,’ which you have not known, ‘and let us serve them,’ 3you shall not listen to the words of that prophet or that dreamer of dreams. For the Lord your God cis testing you, to know whether you love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul. 4You shall dwalk after the Lord your God and fear him and keep his commandments and obey his voice, and you shall serve him and ehold fast to him.

1 Kings 22:22-28

22And the Lord said to him, ‘By what means?’ And he said, ‘I will go out, and will be fa lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’ And he said, ‘You are to entice him, and you shall succeed; go out and do so.’ 23Now therefore behold, the Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouth of all these your prophets; the Lord has declared disaster for you.”

24Then Zedekiah the son of Chenaanah came near gand struck Micaiah on the cheek and said, “How did the Spirit of the Lord go from me to speak to you?” 25And Micaiah said, “Behold, you shall see on that day when you go hinto an inner chamber to hide yourself.” 26And the king of Israel said, “Seize Micaiah, and take him back to Amon the governor of the city and to Joash the king’s son, 27and say, ‘Thus says the king, iPut this fellow in prison and feed him meager rations of bread and water, juntil I come in peace.”’” 28And Micaiah said, “If you return in peace, kthe Lord has not spoken by me.” And he said, lHear, all you peoples!”

8You leave the commandment of God and hold to the tradition of men.”

9And he said to them, “You have a fine way of wrejecting the commandment of God in order to establish your tradition! 10For Moses said, xHonor your father and your mother’; and, y‘Whoever reviles father or mother must surely die.’ 11But you say, ‘If a man tells his father or his mother, “Whatever you would have gained from me is Corban”’ (that is, given to God)
Or an offering
12then you no longer permit him to do anything for his father or mother, 13thus aamaking void the word of God by your tradition that you have handed down. And many such things you do.”
