Deuteronomy 13:6-8

6 aIf your brother, the son of your mother, or your son or your daughter or bthe wife you embrace
Hebrew  the wife of your bosom
or your friend dwho is as your own soul entices you secretly, saying, ‘Let us go and serve other gods,’ ewhich neither you nor your fathers have known,
7some fof the gods of the peoples who are around you, whether near you or far off from you, from the one end of the earth to the other, 8you shall gnot yield to him or listen to him, nor hshall your eye pity him, nor shall you spare him, nor shall you conceal him.

Matthew 5:29-30

29 iIf your right eye jcauses you to sin, tear it out and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body be thrown into khell. 30 lAnd if your right hand mcauses you to sin, cut it off and throw it away. For it is better that you lose one of your members than that your whole body go into nhell.

Matthew 14:3-4

3For oHerod had seized John and bound him and pput him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip’s wife,

Mark 9:43-48

43 sAnd if your hand causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life crippled than with two hands to go to thell,

45 xAnd if your foot causes you to sin, cut it off. It is better for you to enter life lame than with two feet to be thrown into yhell. 47 zAnd if your eye causes you to sin, tear it out. It is better for you to enter the kingdom of God with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into aahell, 48where abtheir worm does not die and the fire is not quenched.’

Luke 14:26-27

26 acIf anyone comes to me and addoes not hate his own father and mother and wife and children and brothers and sisters, aeyes, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. 27 afWhoever does not agbear his own cross and come after me cannot be my disciple.

Luke 14:33

33 ahSo therefore, any one of you who aidoes not renounce all that he has cannot be my disciple.

Luke 18:22-23

22When Jesus heard this, he said to him, One thing you still lack. ajSell all that you have and distribute to the poor, and you will have aktreasure in heaven; and come, follow me.” 23 alBut when he heard these things, he became very sad, for he was extremely rich.
