9 But you shall kill him. ^aYour hand shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people.

2 ^b“If there is found among you, within any of your towns that the Lord your God is giving you, a man or woman who does what is evil in the sight of the Lord your God, ^cin transgressing his covenant, 3 and has gone and served other gods and worshiped them, or ^dthe sun or the moon or any of the host of heaven, ^ewhich I have forbidden, 4 and it is told you and you hear of it, then you shall inquire ^fdiligently, and if it is true and certain that such an abomination has been done in Israel, 5 then you shall bring out to your gates that man or woman who has done this evil thing, and you ^gshall stone that man or woman to death with stones. 6 ^hOn the evidence of two witnesses or of three witnesses the one who is to die shall be put to death; a person shall not be put to death on the evidence of one witness. 7 ⁱThe hand of the witnesses shall be first against him to put him to death, and afterward the hand of all the people. Ezekiel 8:14-18

14 Then he brought me to ^mthe entrance of the north gate of the house of the Lord, and behold, there sat women weeping for Tammuz. 15 Then he said to me, “Have you seen this, O ⁿson of man? ^oYou will see still greater abominations than these.”

16 And he brought me into ^pthe inner court of the house of the Lord. And behold, at the entrance of the temple of the Lord, ^qbetween the ^rporch and ^sthe altar, were about twenty-five men, ^twith their backs to the temple of the Lord, and their faces toward the east, worshiping ^uthe sun toward the east. 17 Then he said to me, “Have you seen this, O ^vson of man? Is it too light a thing for the house of Judah to commit ^wthe abominations that they commit here, that ^xthey should fill the land with violence and ^yprovoke me still further to anger? Behold, they put the branch to their ^{▼▼Or my} nose. 18 Therefore ^aaI will act in wrath. ^abMy eye will not spare, nor will I have pity. ^acAnd though they cry in my ears with a loud voice, I will not hear them.”
