Deuteronomy 15:7-11

7If among you, one of your brothers should become poor, in any of your towns within your land that the Lord your God is giving you, ayou shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother, 8but byou shall open your hand to him and lend him sufficient for his need, whatever it may be. 9Take care lest there be an unworthy thought in your heart and you say, ‘The seventh year, the year of release is near,’ and your ceye look grudgingly
Or be evil; also verse 10
on your poor brother, and you give him nothing, and he ecry to the Lord against you, and fyou be guilty of sin.
10You shall give to him freely, and gyour heart shall not be grudging when you give to him, because hfor this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake. 11For ithere will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, j‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’

Job 29:13-16

13 kThe blessing of him who was labout to perish came upon me,
and I caused mthe widow’s heart to sing for joy.
14I nput on righteousness, and it clothed me;
my justice was like a robe and oa turban.
15I was peyes to the blind
and feet to the lame.
16I was a father to the needy,
and I searched out qthe cause of him whom I did not know.

Job 31:16-21

16 If I have rwithheld anything that the poor desired,
or have scaused the eyes of the widow to fail,
17or have eaten my morsel alone,
and the fatherless has not eaten of it
18(for from my youth the fatherless

Psalms 112:5-10

5It is well with the man who acdeals generously and lends;
who conducts his affairs with justice.
6For the righteous will adnever be moved;
aehe will be remembered forever.
7He is not afafraid of bad news;
his agheart is firm, ahtrusting in the Lord.
8His heart is steady; he will not be afraid,
until he looks in triumph on his adversaries.
9He has aidistributed freely; he has given to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever;
his ajhorn is exalted in honor.
10The wicked man sees it and is angry;
he akgnashes his teeth and almelts away;
amthe desire of the wicked will perish!

Matthew 10:40-42

Rewards

40 an“Whoever receives you receives me, and aowhoever receives me receives him who sent me. 41 apThe one who receives a prophet because he is a prophet will receive a prophet’s reward, and the one who receives a righteous person because he is a righteous person will receive a righteous person’s reward. 42And aqwhoever gives one of arthese little ones even a cup of cold water because he is a disciple, truly, I say to you, he will by no means lose his reward.”

Matthew 25:40

40And asthe King will answer them, atTruly, I say to you, as you did it to one of the least of these aumy brothers,
Or  brothers and sisters
you did it to me.’


Matthew 26:11

11For awyou always have the poor with you, but axyou will not always have me.
