Deuteronomy 15:7-11

7If among you, one of your brothers should become poor, in any of your towns within your land that the Lord your God is giving you, ayou shall not harden your heart or shut your hand against your poor brother, 8but byou shall open your hand to him and lend him sufficient for his need, whatever it may be. 9Take care lest there be an unworthy thought in your heart and you say, ‘The seventh year, the year of release is near,’ and your ceye look grudgingly
Or be evil; also verse 10
on your poor brother, and you give him nothing, and he ecry to the Lord against you, and fyou be guilty of sin.
10You shall give to him freely, and gyour heart shall not be grudging when you give to him, because hfor this the Lord your God will bless you in all your work and in all that you undertake. 11For ithere will never cease to be poor in the land. Therefore I command you, j‘You shall open wide your hand to your brother, to the needy and to the poor, in your land.’

7Is it not nto share your bread with the hungry
and bring the homeless poor into your house;
when you see the naked, to cover him,
oand not to hide yourself from your own flesh?
8 pThen shall your light break forth like the dawn,
qand your healing shall spring up speedily;
ryour righteousness shall go before you;
sthe glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.
9Then you shall call, and the Lord will answer;
you shall cry, and he will say, ‘Here I am.’
If you take away tthe yoke from your midst,
uthe pointing of the finger, and speaking wickedness,
10 vif you pour yourself out for the hungry
and satisfy the desire of the afflicted,
wthen shall your light rise in the darkness
and your gloom be as the noonday.

5So I thought it necessary to urge the brothers to go on ahead to you and arrange in advance for the acgift
Greek blessing; twice in this verse
you have promised, so that it may be ready aeas a willing gift, afnot as an exaction.
Or  a gift expecting something in return; Greek greed

The Cheerful Giver

6The point is this: ahwhoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows bountifully
Greek with blessings; twice in this verse
will also reap bountifully.
7Each one must give as he has decided in his heart, ajnot reluctantly or under compulsion, for akGod loves a cheerful giver. 8And alGod is able to make all grace abound to you, so that having all sufficiency
Or  all contentment
in all things at all times, you may abound in every good work.
9As it is written,

an“He has distributed freely, he has given to the poor;
his righteousness endures forever.”
