Deuteronomy 17:15
15you may indeed set a king over you awhom the Lord your God will choose. One bfrom among your brothers you shall set as king over you. You may not put a foreigner over you, who is not your brother.1 Samuel 2:13
13The custom of the priests with the people was that when any man offered sacrifice, the priest’s servant would come, while the meat was boiling, with a three-pronged fork in his hand,1 Samuel 8:11
11He said, c“These will be the ways of the king who will reign over you: dhe will take your sons and appoint them to his chariots and to be his horsemen and to run before his chariots.1 Samuel 10:25
25Then Samuel told the people ethe rights and duties of the kingship, and he wrote them in a book and laid it up before the Lord. Then Samuel sent all the people away, each one to his home.1 Samuel 27:11
11And David would leave neither man nor woman alive to bring news to Gath, thinking, “lest they should tell about us and say, ‘So David has done.’” Such was his custom all the while he lived in the country of the Philistines.2 Kings 17:33-34
33So they feared the Lord but also served their own gods, after the manner of the nations from among whom they had been carried away.34To this day they do according to the former manner. They do not fear the Lord, and they do not follow the statutes or the rules or the law or the commandment that the Lord commanded the children of Jacob, fwhom he named Israel.

40However, they would not listen, but they did according to their former manner.
