16And Solomon’s import of horses was from Egypt and Kue, and the king’s traders would buy them from Kue for a price. 17They imported a chariot from Egypt for 600 shekels

Isaiah 31:1-3

Woe to Those Who Go Down to Egypt

1 Woe to fthose who go down to Egypt for help
and rely on horses,
who gtrust in chariots because they are many
and in horsemen because they are very strong,
but hdo not look to the Holy One of Israel
or consult the Lord!
2And iyet he is wise and brings disaster;
jhe does not call back his words,
but kwill arise against the house of the evildoers
and against the helpers of lthose who work iniquity.
3The Egyptians are man, and not God,
and their horses mare flesh, and not spirit.
When the Lord stretches out his hand,
the helper will stumble, and he who is helped will fall,
and they will all perish together.

Isaiah 36:9

9How then can you repulse na single captain among the least of my master’s servants, when oyou trust in Egypt for chariots and for horsemen?
