Deuteronomy 17:16

16Only he must not acquire many ahorses for himself or cause the people bto return to Egypt in order to acquire many horses, since the Lord has said to you, c‘You shall never return that way again.’

Isaiah 30:1-7

Do Not Go Down to Egypt

1 Ah, dstubborn children,” declares the Lord,
e“who carry out a plan, but not mine,
and who make fan alliance,
Hebrew  who weave a web
but not of my Spirit,
that they may add sin to sin;
2 hwho set out to go down to Egypt,
without asking for my direction,
to take refuge in the protection of Pharaoh
and to seek shelter in the shadow of Egypt!
3 iTherefore shall the protection of Pharaoh turn to your shame,
and the shelter in the shadow of Egypt to your humiliation.
4For though his officials are at jZoan
and khis envoys reach lHanes,
5everyone comes to shame
through ma people that cannot profit them,
that brings neither help nor profit,
but shame and disgrace.”
6An noracle on othe beasts of pthe Negeb.

Through a land of trouble and anguish,
from where come the lioness and the lion,
the adder and the qflying fiery serpent,
they carry their riches on the backs of donkeys,
and their treasures on the humps of camels,
to a people that cannot profit them.
7Egypt’s rhelp is worthless and empty;
therefore I have called her
sRahab who sits still.”

Isaiah 31:1-3

Woe to Those Who Go Down to Egypt

1 Woe to tthose who go down to Egypt for help
and rely on horses,
who utrust in chariots because they are many
and in horsemen because they are very strong,
but vdo not look to the Holy One of Israel
or consult the Lord!
2And wyet he is wise and brings disaster;
xhe does not call back his words,
but ywill arise against the house of the evildoers
and against the helpers of zthose who work iniquity.
3The Egyptians are man, and not God,
and their horses aaare flesh, and not spirit.
When the Lord stretches out his hand,
the helper will stumble, and he who is helped will fall,
and they will all perish together.

Ezekiel 17:15

15 abBut he rebelled against him by sending his ambassadors acto Egypt, that they might give him horses and a large army. adWill he thrive? Can one escape who does such things? Can he aebreak the covenant and yet escape?
