Deuteronomy 17:8-13

Legal Decisions by Priests and Judges

8If any case arises requiring decision between one kind of homicide and another, one kind of legal right and another, or one kind of assault and another, any case within your towns that is too difficult for you, then you shall arise and go up to athe place that the Lord your God will choose. 9 bAnd you shall come to the Levitical priests and to the judge who is in office in those days, and you shall consult them, and cthey shall declare to you the decision. 10Then you shall do according to what they declare to you from that place that the Lord will choose. And you shall be careful to do according to all that they direct you. 11According to the instructions that they give you, and according to the decision which they pronounce to you, you shall do. You shall not turn aside from the verdict that they declare to you, either to the right hand or to the left. 12The man who dacts presumptuously by not obeying the priest ewho stands to minister there before the Lord your God, or the judge, that man shall die. So fyou shall purge the evil from Israel. 13And all the people gshall hear and fear and not act presumptuously again.

1 Samuel 2:28-30

28 hDid I choose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to go up to my altar, to burn incense, ito wear an ephod before me? jI gave to the house of your father all my offerings by fire from the people of Israel. 29Why then do you kscorn

30Therefore the Lord, the God of Israel, declares: m‘I promised that your house and the house of your father should go in and out before me forever,’ nbut now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me, for those who honor me I will honor, and those who despise me shall be lightly esteemed.

Jeremiah 15:19-21

19 Therefore thus says the Lord:
o“If you return, I will restore you,
and you shall pstand before me.
If you utter what is precious, and not what is worthless,
you shall be as my mouth.
They shall turn to you,
but you shall not turn to them.
20 qAnd I will make you to this people
a fortified wall of bronze;
they will fight against you,
rbut they shall not prevail over you,
sfor I am with you
to save you and deliver you,

declares the Lord.
21 tI will deliver you out of the hand of the wicked,
and redeem you from the grasp of uthe ruthless.”

Malachi 2:5-7

5My covenant with him was one of life and vpeace, and I gave them to him. wIt was a covenant of fear, and he feared me. He stood in awe of my name. 6 xTrue instruction

7For aathe lips of a priest should guard knowledge, and people

Matthew 19:28

28Jesus said to them, Truly, I say to you, in the new world,

adwhen the Son of Man will sit on his glorious throne, you who have followed me aewill also sit on twelve thrones, afjudging the twelve tribes of Israel.
